The Batman is the dark, serious character in the 'League", Superman is, and should contiue to be, the 'Perrenial Boyscout". Green Lantern tends to fall somewhere in between them, a 'chosen' hero--niether born to or driven to it by 'inner demons'.

Aquaman's very serious, but also eco-centric and self-important. Wonder Woman tends to act as a foil between Batman and Superman. The Flash is as fast on his feet as with his mouth.

@drastikchange No. Green Lantern mythos is way too huge to say 'you have to this'. the only thing 'you have to' is Sinestro, and make sure it looks like Star Wars, if all the Lightsabers were Green and the Council was made of Yodas.

I never liked Ryan Reynolds much either until I saw him in Smokin' Aces, a movie which surprised me with its eventual depth and characterizations (Jeremy Piven was also suprisingly good), in spite of a weak plot. It just seemed liked RR kept doing dumb lowbrow comedies that I wouldn't touch with a ten-foot-pole. But if you watch his work in the final scene of Aces, you know he has great dramatic talent. So there's no reason why he couldn't give a "balanced" performance as GL.

Wonder Woman may soon get her film as well just as Superman came out during Smallville. Batman will be a centerpiece for next year’s 'The Dark Knight Rises'. I seriously doubt the possibility a justice league movie, or at least one that includes Nolan's Batman. The new Batman series is largely unconnected to other DC movies and characters, much unlike the Marvel comics movies that seem to be full of super hero connections and cameos. And this disconnect is exactly why I think it is the best series out of ANY super hero films (DC or Marvel). It keeps the story much more believable when you don't have Superman or the like interrupting the plot

First of all, Bryan Singer, who has confessed to not even being a comic book fan, did not do justice to the character. @angelfree84 I agree. It was a lovely film. While not on par in terms of quality with Nolan's Batman (which is probably what people are flipping it up against) it is still a lovely film. Probably because they didn't want to see someone in Reeve's suit when he didn't earn it. People are NOW just starting to accept Tom Welling as Superman because it took him TEN YEARS to fill Chris Reeve's boots. So there's a lot of people ragging on Routh, and there's still ragging on the NEW Superman too

"Any comic book reader" can tell you that Hal Jordan in JLA Year One was exactly as he appears in the trailer, acting like a complete jerk including hitting on Black Canary all the time (when she's wearing her blond wig, that is). It's only after his teammates bring him down to Earth (so to speak) that he becomes a "serious" hero; and from the trailer, it looks like Ryan Reynolds' Jordan goes through a similar maturation.
