I haven't seen the knockout here - but the ref decision is tough in such a situation.

It wasn't clear KO, but surely it could turn very dangerous for Fedor in a few seconds.

Undefended pounding of the back of the head lying flat can very probably cause serious damage to the brain, so it was fair to trade the possible win for the possible grave injury or death.

Fortunately MMA is NOT a street fight, and referee doesn't allow to kill anyone.
