@TK4STRO If there is any difference, it's within a couple of hundred RPM, but for arguments sake, lets say the difference was 5000 RPM. Are you really dumb enough to think that because of a difference in the revs at the start, all the gears have magically become shorter?
@isoSkroting I'm not saying that it happens in real life....but in game that happens to me too....and i think that is because the different rev...if i start in max rev i get better performance that in lowers rotations
@TK4STRO If that was the case, then it would still be a serious bug. But this wasn't the case. It was the same every time. Long gears when I'd start the race, short proper gears when I restart the same race. Revs at start didn't have anything to do with it. It was just the settings I've made that didn't come into effect before the race was restarted. I have no idea if this bug was corrected in a patch, but it would surprise me if it didn't.
You can't expect to get the same speed each time. If you run the same race10 times, with other cars on the track, you should get 10 different speeds. It's not possible to be consistent in a race to exact speeds. All that aside it still does seem like you have a point, 1-2 KPH is nothing, but 15-20 does seem like somethings wrong.
@soocl0se Yeah, this isn't about inconsistency. These two "setups" are almost at the end of each side of the scale. Monza setup and Monaco setup, or something like that.
@isoSkroting Yea i gotcha, and check this out man. When i try to race either the Viper or the Corvette it just wont fucking move. I can shift into first, rev up, It will even say perfect/great launch but the car just sits there. Did you ever fix your problem?
you will gain the speed more easily if you don't burn all your tires, and hit the gas pedal too hard, shift gear too slow as you are launch. If you burn your tires by hit the gas pedal too hard and shift too slow, you will all way get 62 km/h instead of 70 km/h on the first gear and so on. When you hit 70 km/h on the first gear, you know that your timing very good and have a great launch and left all cars behind!
That was my opinion. If this is a bug, I don't know why EA haven't got any patch!
@hienletran I think you missed the point of the video. The point was never to get the best launch possible, the best acceleration or the best anything. The point was simply to do two consistent runs with automatic gearbox (also for consistency) to show how the gear ratios change after I restart the race. I haven't played this game since November, so I have no idea if the bug still exists.
There is another works package that screwed up. On my Xbox 360, I put on the works package for the 370Z and I have a black steering wheel and a full black race interior. I was doing a time trial and in the middle of the rolling start, my steering wheel was white and look like a hotwheels toy car steering wheel and my interior was orange, but when the gameplay starts, the steering wheel became black again and had switches on it again and the cockpit reverted back to normal. What happened?
I'm not sure if my game is patched yet. I play on xbox 360 and I have live. I made a perfect evo IX and all of a sudden understeer was coming into all my turns. I checked my settings and they were set to default. I almost cried and went wtf.
I have the same problem, you can change whatever you want, but when you race, suddenly all the settings you made are completly different. I mean, for example, I was tuning my Mazda RX7 (works converted), in Quickrace, everything was fine, so I switched to a career race, and suddenly my RX7 had only 4 gears, and was bouncing and understeering so that you are unable to keep the car on the track ...I mean that`s ridicules.
I play on PS3 and have no internet access, so I'm forced to play without the patch, but seriously It`s no fun if you buy a game and have to wait and hope that maybe some day a patch will fix the game.....
no 1 had dat problem yet any more i guess they pached it on the new car pack i take it they took out alot of glitches like when it freezes after the race and all dat
Im haveing the same problem with my works viper it topped out at 193 so i wanted to make it faster but now it only gos at 165 and no matter what i do its just not the smae viper
definately a bug and not confined to works only cars. Basically any car that you tune will experience this if you test changes to the setup using quick race. I'll top at 170 then restart quick race and top at 153. it's excruciating because it happens online too and you don't get your setup. It needs fixing immediately otherwise lotsa returns coming and it's a shame cause it could be excellent if they would fix these issues.
thank you very much i have the same car and it dosent even reach 130 on mine and also on the corvette z06 race my car stalls at the start of the race no matter what
Which guy? Me? If so, would you care to explain? Maybe you think there is no bug, and that I am doing something wrong. You're quite the noob yourself, if that is what you think.
He's not a noob, you're a moron. It's a fucking bug. I have the same problem with all my Works Conversion cars. Maybe you should do a little bit more research on the internet before doubting someone. If you did you'd see that MANY people are having this same problem. It's really bad for the PS3 version. I can't even get online with this because it's constantly freezing before a race. There's one race, Ford GT/Viper, and the Viper won't even move. Not to mention the bouncing shit.
oh yeah that dual race or something. there others like that, the corvette/porsche race.. you gotta use the slow porsche against the vette and its annoying.
I tried both auto and manual on Donington National with a stock Audi R8. I saved about one second per lap with manual. This might not be representative for all cars with all upgrade levels on all tracks, but I'm pretty sure manual is faster all in all (as opposed to in Grid).
Manual is usually always better for the same reason it is on any car, you can shift at higher RPMs. The automatic will generally shift at red light, the manual on the other hand you can squeeze out the gear just a tad longer. Now all this being said..... I use automatic in this game because I suck at just about all video games lol

Its easy, in first try you start in different RPM that you start the second try
that makes the diference, try start flatout and compare

its a bug, but not for works, i think its gear
the gear change when you restar, become much faster, like a shifter car(on the wheel),
before restart, the gear change is normal, just like normal cars
something like that, sorry for the bad english

What gave it away for me was the shift times. It was like I had stock transmission/clutch.
Somehow, today I've tried the same two cars that used to do this, but the bug was gone.
