  • I think this is the best mr Knightley. YAY FOR JML

He's not too young-he was 37 wehen they recoreded this- MR KNIGHTLEY IS 37 and that isn't old actually, 37 is pretty young!

  • I wish I could find a Mr. Knightley!! There must be one out there for me, because my real name is truly Emma.

  • start at 1:23 !

  • I love the music at 5:05 coupled with the way the camera leans in towards Mr. Knightley, you just know he's thinking of what a prat Elton is.

  • I love how Frank Churchill jumps about clumsily. Its so adorable!

  • this is so not how the book played out in my mind. but it is god all the same

  • I read the book and at this part I fell in love with him. I watched nearly every Emma version and every time this scene came up I immediately fell in love with Mr. Knightley all over again...

  • i love how knightley sees how concerned emma was over harriet and wanted to please her:)

  • Mr Knightley > Mr Darcy :D

  • but i prefere Mr Darcy to Mr Knightley

  • I always have to laugh when I see Frank Churchill dance. He looks so clumsy! At 1:51 he looks like he's about to stumble over his own feet xD

    He's really overenthusiastic..

And of course, Mr. Knightley is the most amazing gentleman. O, how my heart swells every time I see him go over to Harriet to ask her to dance with him..

And at 6:40 I so love his face. He's like "F#%@*, busted! She figured out!"

  • I am going to help teach the second dance at our Church Fall Fest. We have been practicing out in our lawn the last two weeks.

  • I love Mr Knightley's expression at the end when Emma says "Your secret is out". >.<

  • That dance looks like so much fun!

  • Does anyone see the look Mrs Weston gave that creeper Elton?

  • What a nice dance, it looks like lot's of fun, haha, thanks mr. Knightley for saving poor Harriet for humiliation, she looks very happy now!

  • whooow, lot's of fun, this dance, full of energy!

  • They is something so astonishly GOOD about the music at 5:06 which makes me kndof want Harriet and Mr Knightley to become a couple...

I liked Harriet, she reminds me of me slightly.

  • Ah, how much I want to do that dance! How seriously fun would that be? Seriously!

  • i love it how at 2:02 mr knightley is smiling while he looks at emma then at 2:08 he frowns cause he sees frank :D

  • I love the faces that Mrs Goddard and Mrs Weston makes in this scene.. They're so angry to mr Elton. xD

  • Ridiculous looking dance, but it looks like so much fun!!!!

  • What is the music in this scene? When Mr Knitghley rescues Harriet?

  • @JAusten95 Name: The Ship's Cook Composer: Sammuel Sim

The song can be found in the soundtrack of the series.

  • THANK YOU!

  • sorry, I didn't see that someone had already replied to you, silly me!

  • It's on the soundtrack as "The Ship's Cook"

  • Thank you for posting this i love it!

  • Why is Christina Cole always playing the unpleasant one? Blanche Ingram, Caroline Bingley.... I'd love to see her as the heroine, for once.

  • it is i think more than cute--it is exquisite--better in the novel

  • Love me a good period film dance!

Seriously, why doesn't anyone dance like this anymore? It's so refined and romantic *sigh*

  • I completely know how you feel. Every time i watch a jane auston film i want ever so badly to relive those long nights at the balls. I think we should definatly still attend them!!!!

  • Oh Mr Knightley, how gentlemanly you are! ^_^

  • oh how brilliant!!

  • "Remember I'm not dancing in my condition"

^the absolutely PERFECT way to tell us she's expecting. Back then it wasn't proper to discuss such things, so she can't outright say it. But the audience still needs to know.

LOVE this version! My favorite Mrs. Weston by far!

  • oohhh i love emma! some of the things they say crack me up...

  • i would marry Mr Knightley any day. Frank Churchill is far too immature and Emma with Mr Knightley is an adorable sight. Mrs Weston and Harriet are also lovely friends of Emma's.

  • haha, loved the "he is not still in love with me, but i do not seem to mind" and especially the "it's fairyland, nothing less than fairyland " :D

  • This is a really cute scene. The interesting thing is how different this is from other dance scenes. They seem so much... less stately is what I guess I mean to say. In all the other Jane Austin adaptations the dancing is much more subdued. Except for the first dance in the newest P&P? I wonder which is more accurate. Anyways I'm loving this new Emma so far. Thanks for posting!!!!

  • I agree Mr. Knightley is getting yummier :) I love him. Unfortunately I can't upload the rest of this episode because I could only get snippets of it. I posted another clip though...if you type "emma bbc 2009" into google video though Episode 2 pops up...

  • oh, this version is winning me over little by little. do you think you could upload the rest of episode 2?! I'm waiting to watch the entire, I've only seen the episode 1 and I'm anxious to see the rest :)

  • you can watch them on bbc iplayer

  • Unfortunately, if you live outside England you cannot access the BBC iplayer :(

  • I live outside England too, but they're showing it on our own tv-station... Maybe they'll do the same in your country?

  • I think, even though most people do not agree, this is the best Knightkey yet!

  • I absolutely agree with you about Mr Knightley :) .

This is a brilliant version and this scene is so lovely and touching.

  • i agree with you ^^

  • Comment removed

  • @coklania He is. Personal opinion. :) haha. But this version is the longest and probably thats why the characters are more fleshed out

  • @coklania I could not agree more!

  • @coklania I agree with you!!! :)

  • @coklania I agree!!! He's perfection because he portrays him in a real way. The other Knightley's are too stiff. This one is just wonderful! He would make a very fine Colonel Brandon as well. Colonel Brandon and Mr. Knightley, imo, are very similar to each other. Both are very protective of the women they love, and their love for them is genuine and real. :)

  • @Spiceofmadrid This is true, but you must admit that in Jane Austen's novels all the characters act pretty stiff. I feel like the other Knightley is more true to the book, but I do admit that this one's more fun to watch.

  • @ohgoodjoy Yeah I just have some bias with JLM going on here lol, I felt that he was true to the book in some ways, and in some ways no. I just think it's about personal opinion and what you got from the book.

  • Look at how he smiles at Emma-almost shyly! Oh, be still my heart!

  • Ok, Mr. Knightley is seriously getting yummier :D
