  • This song makes me cry happy tears. Free software and the whole free software movement are beautiful things!

  • Share the DVD and you'll be free!!!!!!

  • This is sooooooo much better then :L

  • GNU/Linux and GNU+Linux are both ok. rms has started to used GNU+Linux

  • this song fucking blows

  • "I'm your worst nightmare!"

  • These guys have to be potheads.

  • I Love Free Software

  • ahhh hahhahahaha

  • i live in a motorboat and run ubuntu on my servers every day

  • i am with u guys

  • Pretty crappy song to be honest. THe movement is great though, they should just make a better song.

  • da best !!

  • The OpenBSD songs are better. :-) But this is about as much as I would expect from GNU trolls. Poor compilers, poor utilities, poor kernel, poor operating system. This is all you can ever expect from Stallman, he's an unintelligent sociopath. The Linux community would do good to distance themselves from the inadequacies of GNU software.

  • @tcadroas So you don't even use a piece of GNU software?;)

  • @dtdt96 Me? I do. My hatred for GNU came recently in and started forming when I was building a linux firewall. Without using a prepackaged distribution on the router, it's really not a fun process. The only trouble I had with it was with GNU software, and everything GNU I installed had to be compiled at least twice(in different ways, in two different stages) in order to function. Installing everything else went smoothly.

I ended up switching it to openbsd, and where I posted the comment below.

  • @dtdt96 The comparison between installing using the official disc image for openbsd, and creating a linux install from scratch is not quite fair, but I wanted to take one step away from all of the GNU software in my system, without installing windows, or buying a mac.

  • this song sucks

  • best version of the song

  • Comment removed

  • great documentary....

one of the biggest reasons why i'm using linux right now...

open source is the future of technology.

  • bill gates chupame la poya!!!!!! este video es una mezcla entre frikada y frikada xddd

    arriba el software libre

  • Ole, que grandes !!

  • I love it!!!

    Greetings from Germany!

    OpenSource 4 ever!!!

  • This damn song rocks!!!

Long Living to OpenSource and FreeSoftware!!

  • The singer is okay. It is live.

  • Revolution OS

  • :D WEEeeEee

  • I like it a lot, but you changed the rhythm!

  • Seriously, are these the most uninspired performers you've ever seen (save for the overzealous "lead singer")

  • LoooooooooooooL

Richards stallman siniging this is pure GPL.....this is like MS EULA mixed with LGPL lol

  • FSF FTW!!!!!!!!!

  • shit i cant get this song out of my head, its great =)

  • I'd thumb you up, if you didn't actually use an ascii2binary converter... n00bs...

  • theres 10 types of people in the world. those who know binary, and those who don't.

  • And there's a third type of people, that forget to put the binary indicator in the end of a binary number.... which then is not a binary number

  • haha touche

  • if this is indicative of an open source "music" movement I'd rather pay for quality music. Seriously guys don't quit your day job.

  • jazzy!

  • what a shame....

  • Although I must admit the song gets a bit stale after listening to it a minute. It will one day become a reminder in history when the free software movement changed the way we think of software. And will mean a lot more after Richard Stallman has passed away.

  • I'm all for the FSW/open source movement but this song really sucks a bum's nutsack!

  • All I can say is this song terrifies me.

  • these guys better stay with their free stuff, even singing they have to do for free...

  • Free software is a matter of freedom not of price. Think of "free" as in "free speech" not as in "free beer." Many many people worldwide make their living on the development, support, etc. of free software.

  • be free....take off the windows, open your mind and see the out side world,,use linux... q^__^p

  • Huh?

  • 2/10 you suck at trolling

  • you suck at saying ppl suck at trolling.

  • hackers = ANY software devs / people who tinker with software and computers

crackers = cyber theives, criminals etc.

    us Hackers can be free!

  • Wow such a great example.

  • ok, I got it, now the hippies, 20 yrs. later stopped getting high and decided to change the world and fight against the corporations, the evil corporations...

Marihuana smokers of the world, UNITE !!!

  • got any dope man!

  • we just ran out of dope, sorry dude, but I can hand you some nice software we did last night on our last trip !!!

  • Far out man! is it hydroponic?

  • Open Source, Open Your Mind! ;)

  • Here's 2 quotes you might like:

"Software is like sex; its much better when its free"

"Windows is easier than Linux, in the same way that crapping your pants is easier than going to the bathroom"

  • l0lz

  • Super!

  • awesome! can i get an OGG or MP3 of this somewhere?

  • MP whaaat? (Shock, horror) :-)

  • yeah, but some of my mp3 players only do that, play mp3s. i ahve some ogg-enabled ones, though

    ;)

  • Darn, how many do you have?

  • a few... not many. rare ;)

  • I meant overall. Why so many?

  • fail

  • cause it sucked in 7/4

  • Nice rendition, but what I wanna know is why no one ever plays it in 7/4 the way Stallman originally intended

  • much better than stallman himself singing it..

  • arthurzanoni FIOUN U

  • Anyone have the tabs?

  • I want heavy metal version.

  • Post in on youtube.

  • I'm not sure what you mean by that, but the artists, did post it on youtube, and while I can't link to it because of spam filters, it should be easy to find. It fact, there it is -->, toward the bottom of "Related Videos"!

  • full support from borderline band from italy!!!

  • Eso, ¿el vídeo no está bajo GPL?

  • GNU/GPL !!!!!

  • OH XOR ENCRYPTION. There is a reason pgp doesn't just use xor encryption, because it is a weak cryptosystem. You don't know shit, script kiddy ass.

  • I encrypt my stuff with rot13, twice just to be sure.

  • Swearing does not help you make your point. All it does is make you seem like an uneducated loser. Just a little advice.

  • you are a moron if u really think this!!!!!!

  • because linux is the best

  • @giomapo It's GNU/Linux. If RMS heard you saying that he would not be happy :p

  • @jonesdoe1 It's not GNU/Linux it's Gnu + Linux

  • @egadw It's whatever you want to call it. Stallman used to say Gnu + linux but he says Gnu/Linux now.

  • @mike3214545 In an interview for reddit he mentioned that gnu/linux would imply to someone, who haven't heard of linux before, that GNU made Linux as Hurd is called GNU/Hurd

  • They certainly do sing better than Richard "GNU" Stallman. Is this version licenced under the GPL too? :P

  • yes... it is under GPL and All musics on the movie "Revolution OS"

  • Are you sure about that? It used to be up on google.video and you could download it as an avi, though now they've changed policies. I've not seen anything about it being under the GPL, though it'd be great if true.

  • the video is not under GPL. The source of the song is under GPL!

  • Really Great :)

  • Great version of the Free Software Song!

  • The song sucks....but what you can expect from hackers.

    Horrible key.

  • You suck, window$ supporter.

From hackers you can expect best quality and that they will be involved in what they do, not just create something for money without even taking care if it works as it should.

If you don't understand the term hacker, it is not a person breaking into computers and making damage.

    Bye, looser.

    Hail Linux!

  • Haha, I don't support Windows at all. I was making fun of the guys singing, I use and deploy Linux systems. you know, I am more of a hacker than you. I develop free software, I was commenting on the musical ability. I knew I'd get this sort of reaction on youtube... :)

  • Amara... How on earth can you feel justified in saying that you are more of a hacker than someone else without even knowing anything about them? Hacker is a title bestowed by others, not self-assumed.

  • You stupid Windowى supporter this song is grate if you new any think you would understand yeah i do like windows but i allso love Linux and love that people make grate free software for it

  • Same goes for you, I am a hacker myself.

  • yeah sure!!!!

  • I've just finished the initial development of a XOR encryption tool, it uses /dev/urandom as a keyfile to make the key generated as long as the input file, making it an extremely secure one off encryption. Of course, Xorc can also encrypt using a text string and a normal keyfile.

  • Good job but dude but come on this is not an extraordinary software can u build a protocol????

  • A protocol? A protocol is a set of standards and rules governing how software/devices should behave when they communicate using said protocol.build a protocol? What are you on about? A protocol for what?

  • yeah you know it for example i ask you can you built a wireless driver which has an unique datasets like tcp/ip or appletalk and crpty data this is a really hacking

  • I'm sorry but you have no idea about hacking, one does not have to create protocols or drivers to be a hacker. Richard Stallman defines a hacker as someone who enjoys playful cleverness. Although I have been working on a kernel device driver for my Samsung D600, I see no need in making a new internet protocol. It's a complete waste of time when IPv6 is around the corner. Geez...

  • You know hacking isn't only about cypto or hack somebody and what kind of hacker call himself hacker on a public site....nevermind i have better thing to do

    c u

  • Unfortunately I keep getting emails when you respond, so I'll just say this. You are technically incompetent, and are in no position to tell anyone what a hacker should do. As RMS said, hackers are people who enjoy playful cleverness.

YOU imply that hackers will not reveal their status on public sites, but you probably mean CRACKERS. Very different people, and I would feel insulted to be associated with them. I don't claim to be the best but you sir are just stupid.

  • easy now... I swear I sound better with a more uh... "sophisticated" setup :)

  • The members of the GNU/Stallmans all worked at VA Linux Systems (now VA Software) when this was filmed. The recording is a more lively version of the original version written and performed by Richard Stallman: http://www.gnu.org/music/free-software-song.au
