yes I've seen croma keying done in the 80's that was way worse. this actually looks like there are two different people singing. and Danny kaye is one of the best comedians ever !!
That is Danny playing both parts. They were pretty good with camera tricks at times. Even in those days. 'Bewitched', 'I Dream of Jeannie' both employed doubles and were almost seamless in doing so.
last time I saw this I was a little girl. I absolutely love the "Danny Kaye Show" for all times. he was such a funny and clever man. Such talented human.
lmao I don't care when this video was made (when was it made anyway?) it's still funny no matter how many times I watch it. And much better than most of the junk on tv these days.
Yeah, that's a good camera trick, but really if you watch what he and his camera team did in "On the Riviera" (1950), "On the Double" (1960), and especially "Wonder Man" (1945, yeah, as far back as that !), where Danny also gets to play double roles you'll be amazed at how skillful they were in cutting and rear projecting ! Gosh, they did dynamic pictures, shakehands and two characters using the same prop in a single frame ;-P That's what's called real CLASS !!!
@mazay83 - This also reminds me of the "Self-Searching Song" quartet piece from "The Inspector General." It didn't have the prop-sharing and physical interaction, but I was impressed me with the visual synchronization between the four parts coming in and out and then joining together to show all four images musically in sync. (Maybe it is an easy trick, but it looks impressive.)
@mattiescottage You're absolutely right - that "Soliloquy for 3 Heads" is IMHO one of greatest episodes in the whole of motion picture history. I even once rewatched it several times in a row paying attention each time to a different "character" - and gosh - in every one of them Danny was a pure delight !

At the beginning he sounds like Elmer Fud hahaha.
He's so funny though and a great singer too.

@passionofpersephone - Bernie Rothman in his book *Hollywood and Me* (2006, page 85) says he wrote this one, along with "Petrov the Thinker."

Is Danny boy playing both parts (because it's a fairly good camera trick for that day if it is). If not, who is the other guy?
