the question is are they active or passive rfid's actives have a power source. and are large passive do not. they can only transmit when a rfid scanning device is applied. active rf id's are commonly used in toll tags passive are used in you credit card or key fobs for work or for push button start cars. no way are they going to be able to use active in a grocery store for products it's too expensive.

Knowing about RFID has NOTHING to do with 'NEWS'. Knowledge specifically deals in understanding the actual technology & manufacturing process. Then intelligent comments can be made that are factual. RFID is a technology that in its worst will invade privacy we already lost. In a passport, drivers license etc. Not designed to replace the information or your photo. It is there with a number to validate the Passor DL. So what? A phone tracks you even when OFF! Scared of being tracked? Dump phone?

Lets say you would know about certain danger of any technology but you are invested with 1 Mil USD and the technique + youre Million would go down by you admitting to it chances are you would hide it,

Think about about what you are saying. They (aduana) have your passport in hand with your PHOTO. So how is it that the RFID tag is 'bad' in that environment? It hold less info than the passport itself. Its a passive tag (can't be read further that a foot away) and only holds a 'number'. The number validates that the passport is real and not falsificated. How do I know? We manufacture many of the RFID tags in those passports.

And dont try to fool me her I Know it for certain because the government in Germany (where I come from) is demanding it to be in the new Passports they stated it Public its on the record so dont try to deny! @blueyejim How do you know its disabled are you able to check and make sure it is 100 percent deactivated maybe they only switch of the alarm function in the chip so you can walk out but how do you know its actually destroyed completely and will be therefore untraceable!

The chip is only used to alarm security pedestals during theft.

Market research companies are what you should be worried about. They put spy-ware on your computer and track your credit card usage.

Also youre claim dose not make sense to much because there is much simpler technique then RFID witch can realise a alarm system you dont need a unique number for every item to make that possible I simply dont like this technique and it potential dangers at all!

I believe in anti theft, which is what this system promotes. However, I do not agree to companies tracking my purchases. This argument should be targeted at marketing companies.

@blueyejim Also I see the potential danger it might not bee done now but as you know humans are at sleep most off the time so on one point in the future when everyone is used to it they might stop switching it of or might find good reasons to not to like the intelligent fridge! Also its interesting can it be reactivated or the number found on it afterwards with any kind of Technique lets say a item was involved in a crime scene can investigators retrieve the Id from the chip?
