Jon, Richie, and someone else (I think it was Desmond Child) wrote this for her. Richie had the most part in it. During Richie's "Stranger In This Town" tour, he played an acoustic version of it very frequently.

Surprisingly, Richie became romantically involved with Cher from 1988-1991. Had Cher not made a pass at Richie, I don't think we'd know his name.

This was made before Cher dated Richie. Richie and Jon Bon Jovi and Desmond Child wrote and produced this track for her 1987 album, "Cher." Cher was dating Rob Camaletti (SpellCheckPlease) and had just made 3 movies back to back plus this album and videos and was on her way to win the best actress award at the Oscars.  Busy busy year for her.
