Mister Bruce... What really is left to say? In his autobiography he basically splits people into two of one personalities: those who pissed in the sink and those who pissed in the sink and denied it.
Lenny Bruce to me sounds like if Rod Serling and George Carlin got together, fucked, had a baby then that baby grew up and developed a 15 year smoking habit.
Nobody did this kind of comedy back then. I'd say a one dimensional pee hole like George Carlin (who was very funny in a hacky way nonetheless) served to ruin Bruce's memory.
@faffaflunkie The influence that Bruce had on Carlin was colossal but the real difference between the two comedians is that Carlin was actually funny. There was a sharp intellect that Carlin possessed that no other comedian including Richard Pryor or Bill Cosby could match. You are one of the few people who would call him that but whatever.
@jakster2 I stated Carlin was funny. He (Carlin) was a most talented hack. It was when Carlin tried to be philosophical he became a bit whiny and one dimensional. Carlin actually had a far better career than Lenny Bruce ever did. Carlin had an amazing career that anyone in show business would envy.
I just don't understand why so many people think that you have to be filthy and crude to be funny. George Carlin, Lenny Bruce, and Richard Pryor are as dirty as they come, but I rarely found any humor in their acts.
lenny bruce was one of the last people to be arrested for speaking crudely in public. at one show he gets arrested and the cops find this guy there at the show and they're like "lets see some ID." and the guy says "i dont believe in ID." so they throw him in the back of the car with lenny bruce. you know who that guy was? it was george carlin. does that not blow your mind?
Creepily so at times. There's few moments when I couldn't distinguish the two if Lenny's voice wasn't a little higher (though I suspect George was actually higher).
Universal Hero!! As Important as Bill Hicks and others. Or is it the other way around?

At 0:02 he says areoplane glue, not airplane glue... Q. when did Americans stop saying Aeroplane, and start saying airplane?
or,
Is this just perculiar to his accent?
or have you always pronounced it as areoplane, but spell it airplane?
Just curious... :)

Not original, not "edgy," not insightful, and most of all not funny.
This is the "legendary" Lenny Bruce?

@Sigolet You may not find it funny, but how is it not original? Name me one comedian from the 50's who had this same bit.
