  • Sadly this fellow is much more engaging than the one that's currently eating bits of my house. the boxelder beetles are out and he's feasting. I'll have to figure out a deterrant for his obsession with the house. Mine is white and black, he's cute.

  • I love this woodpecker's trill and churp. We don't have this kind of woodpecker on the westcoast where I am from, nice to hear different calls. Thanks,

    Kym

  • I like her/his chirp, it's pretty.

  • i've never seen such a red pecker!

    lol

  • Well, then you have never seen Me when...

  • A very lovely bird to admire, thanks Arthur!:)

  • He was very cooperative lately(with my video production)! I had the photos for months. Then one day I recorded him with some of the pecking sounds. Another day he was calling/singing for hours.

With any luck, he is building a 2nd nest of the season and grace me with a family video! lol

  • very cool

  • beautiful

  • Beautiful. I didn't know we had those in NY State. I've never seen one. Today I saw a Cardinal couple, looked like a nice couple, 1 male, 1 female. Each bird to me has it's own character and behavior. Some are aggressive, some are submissive, some are kind, some are curious. Sometimes the Blue Jays peck at my screen like they want me to go outside and watch them.

  • I have heard, but I have not seen any blue jays this year.

I have noticed the bond between cardinal pairs. Both on the ground at the feeder, and the male feeding the female.

  • He's lovely! :)

  • Joey, You are Lovely!

  • Aww, you are very sweet! :)

  • Ooo, he looks like a big one!

I had a Downy Woodpecker on my front tree this spring. He's gone now. I sure miss watching his antics.

  • I have a few photos of a male and a female Downy at my feeder. I am sure they had a nest, the female would scrape every bit of suet off of the empty suet basket.

This bird is about 3 times the size of the Downy woodpeckers I have seen.

  • Beautiful trees! And bird!

  • And NO Bees in this video!

  • Nice pecker!

    And impressive wood, too.

  • lol

  • I was hoping you would be in awe of my bird!IMAO

  • Well, would you LOOK at that! Thank you sooo much for sharing this with us...~Tammi~

  • Thanks for watching! The photos at the end of the video, I had for 3 months. I was so happy to get some video.

  • What an extraordinary bird you have there in your garden. Busy little birdie too:)

All the best to you from us over here.

  • I hope he is building a late season nest for a second set of eggs. Early in the spring, he always flew off to a neighbor's tree. At the time I heard plenty of rapid pecking sounds, so I guessed he was building a nest hole.

Hope all is well? I am way overdue to send you a message. Naruyo is coming for a 2 day visit this weekend!

  • The Red Wooded Bellypecker? Now, that's almost rude.. Loved the photos and the clips, may go 'pecker hunting' in the woods nearby, we have plenty.. but not this kind, of course.. :)

  • We had similar thoughts!

I considered giving the video the title: Morning Wood Red Pecker

  • Ha ha ha ha ha ha.. :)

  • Awesome footage. I love Red-bellied Woodpeckers. They are at the top of my favorite bird list. The sounds are amazing.

  • Yes, this is too easy, But I have to type it...

PM me about whose bird is at the top of your favorite bird list! ;-0

  • I thought that was a red-headed woodpecker?

Boy he sure is doing a number on that tree!! LOL

Hugs and good to see you posting vids again Arthur.

  • I know !

Considering that it only has about 3 or 4 red feathers on it's belly. Maybe the guy who named it was color blind, or at least had a belly fetish! lol

  • Well it's the strangest pecker I've seen in a long time...and believe me I have seen quite a few in my day.

  • I always wondered if they got headaches.

  • They have something like a shock absorber in their skulls.

  • Wisdom and humor, you're quite the double whammy my friend.

  • A double whammy from Timido66!?!

That would cure a lot more than my headache.

Excuse Me, I have to go watch her naked vlog again...

  • how sweet

  • eeeyyy! arthur!

  • What else can i say about woodpeckers? I guess nothing! But i can talk about crazy sheep from my neighbor!

  • Ok, i'll tell you! Crazy sheep jump in the middle of the road sometimes because that bastard let the gate open, one day i smash a sheep and then suddently she haves no owner, i get a damaged car and all i will get is BBBBEEEEEE!

  • I just found on google that i'm not talking about sheep but goats, not that i didn't know but my mind is slow today!

  • I like Pringles!

  • What about apples?

  • Apples are OK, as long as they don't have holes in them!

  • We used to have some kind of woodpecker in Portugal when i was a kid, i guess is extinguished now! World destruction or world evolution? They say it's the first but i guess is both in different cases!

It's kind of cool to see them try to open a hole!

Please don't make any kind of dirty reply to this last sentence! Old ladies wouldn't like! Ok, lol, i'm pushing too far!

  • Well,

If you Push Too far, then you just might open a hole !
