  • omg, this is awesome, brian and boney absolutly rockin´ great jam session, would have loved to join them..

  • Ok it's Tuesday, if this song doesn't get you moving, your (grASS) is dead. Pls water! ;-)

  • JAMMIN!!

  • Fantastic. Great musician here.

  • really gr8 love this..........from v.j.

  • That boy plays a DAMN good tram-bone. Great harmony, and he does it while dancing around on the stage. Damn good job!

  • Culberston is playing some cool chops on the trombone "He's get a great feel" Go white boy!!!

  • a m a z in g !!!!!

    Thanks for posting !!!!!

  • Two my fave jazz masters bringing down the house. I LOVE them!

  • nice!

  • Mark vi tenor sax, beechler mouthpiece

  • Boney James would sound like that whether he had a great mouthpiece, or a moderate one. It has to do with they way he plays the saxophone. It sounds great, and thus he is simply a great player. If you wanna sound like boney, you could definitely look into using the same equipment as him, but listening to boney a lot and trying to imitate him is how you will get to sound like him.

  • what a TUNE great melody love it

  • he's using a metal mouthpiece

  • AWESOME

    **100000000000000***

  • Thanks for share !!!!!

    *10**

  • Thanks for posting !!!!

  • this song just makes me want to jump up and start dancing wildly like Gomer Pyle!

  • jcjp86, i've been playing for 17 years (since 6th grade) and I'm just now developing a sound quasi like Boney... definitely a bad ass mouthpeice, with a deep cut on the baffle... match that with a TONS of control over whatever size reed works for you, and it will start to develop...

  • What the heck are these all star cruises?! Surely high income retired Jews who go on cruises don't dig this stuff? Too jazzy. They'd want Vegas cabaret on the water -- Buble or whatever.

  • Comment removed

  • he uses a guardala mouth piece.....tenor has a natural fat sound and that gives the tenor some bite and he doesnt use a high reed he probably uses a medium or hard reed

  • It's probably that combined with his throat muscles, and the position of his mouth around the mouth piece. If you listen to C Jam Blues, you would find his tenor sounds very breathy and soft, which might be because of all you've said and all i've said.

    Hope I've helped.

  • my o my they are jamin

  • ummm...thats definitely brian culbertson playing the trombone

  • He plays the bone on his new cd, dance/70s style, and he's pretty damn good on it. Being a keyboardist, he blows away all the guys that 'played' trombone way back in high school 12 years ago.

  • wow for a keyboardist he plays trombone fairly well

  • hugh masekela song cant beat the original though its nice to hear some 1 doit justice

  • boney james and rick braun did a duet on this song, it is amazing! all we need boney to do know is put out a cd with chris botti and ill be REALLY happy!

  • Culbertson isn't playing the Trombone.

    He can't. He's a keyboard guy.

    He's trying to look good.

  • i agree with you hes trying to look good but he did ok but he also a great keyboardist

  • Saw Culbertson at Berks Jazz Fest a couple of years ago and he does play a decent trombone.

  • one of the best sax players out there

  • Anybody know who's on the trombone in this one?

  • ..umm umm good!

  • Great great tune. Composed by Hugh Masekela. Great grooves from Boney and Band

  • Old time favorites..Grazing in the Grass..

  • excellent, nice groove the whole way thru, love the song

  • ha wow that was great. i love jazz :)

  • These 2 cats jam it's not about anything else. They are putting it down and paying homage to the songwriter by their rendition some of the great trombone and sax players out here know and respect this, what a beautiful rendition!

  • LOL....the "trombone player" is keyboard wiz Brian Culbertson.... what a great backup band, a beautiful sax solo by Boney James about 3:00 into the song, and an outstanding rendition of the Hugh Masekela classic - love it!

  • djee... that rocks

  • These two need to stop teasing us and do an album together. It would be magic!!

  • lol he's being cool, let him be....i'mm taking boney's spot .. gimme sum yeears and let me get into tthis music gameee

  • nice dude you like boney james to cuz he is my favorite sax player and I want more than anything to be the next boney james

  • It's not about race. However, if it was, then these two cats have crossed over. They are two badass bruthas. If you don't believe me, just ask the some of the musicians that play with them. Give them their props, they play like they deserve them. No doubt.

  • its not about who,s acting black, just sit back and enjoy this beautiful ensamble, thanks for posting.

  • Boney James is the man. I saw him in a free concert in San Jose, Ca. and I have been loving his music since. He's just acting like Boney James

  • yo mah man aint no body tryin' to act black there, thats just the way he is. =)

  • Oh please...what in the he!! is acting Black anyway? We don't all act, speak, dress, eat, walk, talk or think the same way, besides there are too dang many of us all over the world...and you don't even know what Boney might have hanging in his family tree, you might have all kinda stuff hanging in your own!

  • It ain't even about acting black. Give the man his due. Boney JAMS all the time. He's just a bad ass sx player is all.

  • Great video, Boney James is the man at this stuff. Trombone has some interesting ideas goin' on. As to why he's acting black I don't see that...

  • did anyone else hear voodoo child in the guitar solo...haha, it is all Bb blues so i can see where it would fit. I just thought that was sweet.

    nice vid

  • ...ain't that a gas!

  • favorite boney james smooth groove. Boney you are cool, but don't try to act black yo. please, thank you

  • This is 2007. I don't know what country you're from; but your comment goes back 50 years. Music is a universal communication - especially jazz styles. Like anyone, this man can feel the music anyway he pleases. I'm an ethnic person myself, but I don't watch artists to see if their acting black, white, hispanic, indian, etc... Free yourself dude. He's a fine lyrical sax player - that's what matters here.
