Imo, macs are far superior for any productivity or day-to-day tasks, but PCs obvs take the cake for gaming. Thats why I have a mac pro with OSX for day-to-day stuff and win7 when I wanna game :)

From what I've seen most of the mac hatred comes from gamers that can't play their games on them. Also, that apple keyboard is SO GOOD for typing and gaming. Still, it's no mechanical keyboard, but the low travel and low height make it really, really comfortable to use.

Win7 is better for productivity too as the Office suites are more fully-featured and have most compatibility with enterpri.se Only Video-editing is superior on Mac and with the FCPX bomb, even this is questionable.

Only thing I use my Mac for is like productivity and as you said, day-to-day tasks. A PC is better than Bootcamp Mac for gaming and you'd get more performance/dollar.
