Hehe, I created a Record farm in my latest LP. Remember you can't get the broken record from the farm, but you get all the rest at roughly equal rates. Was going to suggest you create one yourself! :)

Doc, i don't think there is any possible way to farm ghasts automatically..

They aren't affected by gravity

They aren't affected by lava

Water.. idk and you can't bring it in anymore cause you can't use silk touch on ice..

Unless you make like the smallest size room possible to spawn one and put pressure plates down, and when they hover over it, pistons crush it or something..

@docm77 for ghast farming when 1.2 comes out you could perhaps make a massive cube of dispensers full of fire charges (facing inwards) on top of a large area that is half slabbed apart from the minimum area needed for ghasts to spawn in and you would be in a massive control room firing the required arrays of dispensers to kill them. i know its not automated but i dont think thats do-able quite yet until some crazy new homing missiles are added :)

@docm77 This is only practical if you have a ghast spawner, like if you're playing an adventure map, but you can have a minecart going around a 5x5 area in an enclosed space, then you can hit them through the wall.

Heya Doc...Arnold did eat the steak, you first had 6 and he ate one. I think there are 4 levels of hunger with the wolves/dogs. Their tails indicate their level. if their tails are really low, you can feed them steak and you will see it notch up, kinda like redstone repeaters. heheh. So when their tail is about 35 degrees up, they are fed and from then on, they do the sit/stand. just fyi. :)

What do I think of the Iron Lung?

I think it's one of the creepiest damn things I've ever seen in Minecraft, almost entirely due to the heartbeat. Definitely something that looks and sounds like something I'd expect to see in hell.

I need to make the lava area bigger, but for now, I need a short break from all thenether work. Those noises, lol, they will get to you after hours and hours...especially the ghasts. They became my most hated mob by far.

I found a tread about block transmution in the redstone forums. It uses a little of instant wire and also water to change the data of a block. With this you can change the color of wool, switch different Double halfslabs for each other, get all the stonebrick and least but not last fill a cauldron with up to 15 charges! With this it is possible to make a brewing room in the nether

If you want to automatically pick up loot, put tracks down along the whole bottom in rows, the gold will make getting the booster rails less resource taking, unless items stop minecarts

You should make a hidden trap door on the out side of some of your rooms so if any mobs spawn you can make them follow you then open the door and their gone I have one out side of my house and their really effective

Hey Docm! Awesome video and great iron lung, it is really cool. I really like the look of it from far away with the iron bars. As for the ghast farm, I think it would be neat. Ghasts would be great for regeneration potions. If nothing else you can try capturing one and putting them in glass "fish" bowls :) I'll take a look into the whole ghast farming and if I come up with anything good I'll make a video response so maybe we can bounce some ideas off of each other. @docm77 Doc, for your nether trees - you might want to use an open fence gate above them to prevent them from growing into mega-trees.

Glass is the normal thing, but then pigmen might fall on it and you would lose your drops - if you could have easy to chop trees everywhere and get through them really quicklyit would feel like the trees were dropping gold when they decayed. Well, gold and rotten flesh. They ARE nether trees, lol :)

doc you can use glass panes or iron bars instead of the paintings in the wool farm. It also stops you from falling through the minecart :)

The presentation for the mob trap is nothing short of amazing doc! The heart beat mixed with the dying breathes is just so perfect. It's too bad you are getting bad rates. I'm pretty sure zombie pigman spawn at the same rates as normal hostile mobs. You will want to have at least 1000 blocks of spawning space with a quick kill system like that. I also suspect your perimeter doesn't extend far enough, although I can't remember what you said its dimensions are. They are spawning in other areas.

@EthosLab Thanks buddy, some show always is a nice thing, hehe. Yeah, spawning rates should be way higher. ATM, the thing is 200x200..so we have some room for improvement. Also, spaning surface is about 360 blocks atm, so that should be bigger as welll..mhm...i might first try to check if there are caves and stuff below.I hope not, causethat would be insane to fix. Only reasonable way would a xray device be I´d say.

To increase your spawn rate I think you have to slower down the floors movement, if it's too quick they don't have time to spawn on it.
