  • Around 13 seconds in, you hear the guy below ask if it makes a difference which direction the top beaner on the draw is clipped in. The answer is yes; it depends on which way the gate on the bottom beaner is oriented. Typically gates face away from the route because you want the rope to run against the spine of the beaner. This is to minimize the chance of the rope running on top of the gate in a fall, and backclipping, which will lead to major impact further down at the least.
