The sa-80 a2 is a good bit of kit! ive used both the a1 and a2. the a1 one was wank. then HK got there hands on it and upgraded the internal workin parts and gas parts!
The A2 is a good fuckin rifle it does its job well.
with a2 you can put a good accurate rate of fire down range and if the soldier has maintained, cleaned and oiled it well it does its part well. If the soldier does get a stoppage its cleared in seconds because they practise over and over it becomes 2nd nature!
It takes alot longer to explain the stoppage procedures than it does to actually clear the stoppage.

hay! as I recall almost all modern assault rifles have problems in the first model, the M16A1 had a jamming problem to, the A2 model sorta helped, but it still needed to be cleaned alot, L85A1 is the British vertion of the M16A1, and like it, most of the flaws were taken kare of in the A2 model
The 416 is very good, but its very exspensive. Also, I think the forces are looking to stick with a bullpup design because it offers greater accuracy in a more compact form.

Yes, you can. Before you go out on operations you are allowed to select guns from a range of assult rifles. However, you will most of the time pick the SA80 as that is what you are mainly trained with. Also, of course on opertaions you may pick up and swap weapons you find on the field. I always satrt with the SA80 and ASAP pick up an AK47 aswell, for supressing fire.
I'm part of the British army. Also I forgot to mention. When you first start off you can only select one gun, the SA80, and then it is your choice to take additional weapons you find on the field. However, the longer you serve and the more you prove you can effectivley use and maintian other military issued firepower, like the M4 or the M16 you will be given more scope to choose and train with diferent weapons. Letting you have more choice what your weapon of choice is at the start of operations

One of the best weapons ever made for reliability has to be the AK47. Correct me if im wrong but it hardly ever jams or breaks compaired to the sa80's. The A2 is alot better but still jams now and then but the AK will jam not very often. Still great weapons though - awesome accuracy.
Just finished 4 yrs in Iraq as a security consultant!! AK is robust but very inaccurate. SA80 is not as robust but extremely bloody accurate. Stand up fight, I`d have the SA80.
Infantry are issued the L85a2/sa80 (no more friggin issues we hope) while SAS & SBS get to play with the c7/c8 Diemaco's due to its mission adaptability. Both are good rifles in their own right. They keep the troops and civilians alive in that forsaken part of the planet. Stay safe.

The U.S. still employs the M4 and M16 because of their high accuracy, range, and the compactness of the M4(more, but I can't remember all of it). There are better guns out there like H&K's 416/417, but the expense would be to high to re-outfit the military at the moment
Train along side some of our US Army Rangers, Green Berets, CAC- aka Delta Force operators, SEALS or Force Recon units and then tell me your SAS, and Royal marines are MUCH better trained. You will come to find out that there is not much of a difference between us, outside of our equipment. Of course UK has superb intelligence I will admit.
As an infantryman in US Army 2nd BN 108th IN, I can say that the best troops I have ever had a chance to train with outside of our own were indeed UK's. But for soem of you to say your soldiers are MUCH better trained, is simply not true. There was not much of a difference at all in Iraq. You cannot go by simple weeks in length in regard to training phases. Not to mention our equipment, airforce, and navy are by far superior.

In 1754 he was appointed lieutenant general in the armies of america - a army raised in the americas as a militia for the british army. He was in and out of military service for years before the war of independance. Abrams has a jet engine creating 1500Hp and weighs 67tons, C2 has a v12 diesel engine which creates 1200hp. calculate and you have about 25hp per ton of weight on a heavier tank (abrams) to about 20hp per ton on a lighter tank (C2). The C2 im afraid is slower, and the abrams is fast.

Because half of NATO's equipment is Amercian, its been proven in exercises. I would question US tactics but as 4 us Brits the Falklands does count because it tested vital qualities including physical and mental capabilities of our Paras and Marines in very hostile terrain.

The sa-80 a2 is a good bit of kit! ive used both the a1 and a2. the a1 one was wank. then HK got there hands on it and upgraded the internal workin parts and gas parts!
The A2 is a good fuckin rifle it does its job well.
with a2 you can put a good accurate rate of fire down range and if the soldier has maintained, cleaned and oiled it well it does its part well. If the soldier does get a stoppage its cleared in seconds because they practise over and over it becomes 2nd nature!

hay! as I recall almost all modern assault rifles have problems in the first model, the M16A1 had a jamming problem to, the A2 model sorta helped, but it still needed to be cleaned alot, L85A1 is the British vertion of the M16A1, and like it, most of the flaws were taken kare of in the A2 model

The 416 is very good, but its very exspensive. Also, I think the forces are looking to stick with a bullpup design because it offers greater accuracy in a more compact form.

Yes, you can. Before you go out on operations you are allowed to select guns from a range of assult rifles. However, you will most of the time pick the SA80 as that is what you are mainly trained with. Also, of course on opertaions you may pick up and swap weapons you find on the field. I always satrt with the SA80 and ASAP pick up an AK47 aswell, for supressing fire.

I'm part of the British army. Also I forgot to mention. When you first start off you can only select one gun, the SA80, and then it is your choice to take additional weapons you find on the field. However, the longer you serve and the more you prove you can effectivley use and maintian other military issued firepower, like the M4 or the M16 you will be given more scope to choose and train with diferent weapons. Letting you have more choice what your weapon of choice is at the start of operations

One of the best weapons ever made for reliability has to be the AK47. Correct me if im wrong but it hardly ever jams or breaks compaired to the sa80's. The A2 is alot better but still jams now and then but the AK will jam not very often. Still great weapons though - awesome accuracy.

Just finished 4 yrs in Iraq as a security consultant!! AK is robust but very inaccurate. SA80 is not as robust but extremely bloody accurate. Stand up fight, I`d have the SA80.

Infantry are issued the L85a2/sa80 (no more friggin issues we hope) while SAS & SBS get to play with the c7/c8 Diemaco's due to its mission adaptability. Both are good rifles in their own right. They keep the troops and civilians alive in that forsaken part of the planet. Stay safe.

The U.S. still employs the M4 and M16 because of their high accuracy, range, and the compactness of the M4(more, but I can't remember all of it). There are better guns out there like H&K's 416/417, but the expense would be to high to re-outfit the military at the moment

Train along side some of our US Army Rangers, Green Berets, CAC- aka Delta Force operators, SEALS or Force Recon units and then tell me your SAS, and Royal marines are MUCH better trained. You will come to find out that there is not much of a difference between us, outside of our equipment. Of course UK has superb intelligence I will admit.

As an infantryman in US Army 2nd BN 108th IN, I can say that the best troops I have ever had a chance to train with outside of our own were indeed UK's. But for soem of you to say your soldiers are MUCH better trained, is simply not true. There was not much of a difference at all in Iraq. You cannot go by simple weeks in length in regard to training phases. Not to mention our equipment, airforce, and navy are by far superior.
