Keep an eye out for tv theme compilation soundtracks - in particular UK tv series, 1970s, Childrens and Easy Listening.

If you have iTunes, go to their store - search for "galloping home", and it will list the Albums a version of this appears on, along with the genre catergory, and a shot of the CD cover :) Go for the 2.25/2.26 second versions and pay the little sample version to checkits the arrangement you want too. Then you can look for a list of CDs in the store

This is probably the original stock Production Music version that the show music was selected from. It was more common and cheaper too

According to the credits from the 1972 television series it's "music composed and arranged by Dennis King and directed by Harry Rabinowitz."

@redasoft That probably refers to the incidential music underscore pieces being created by Mr King being inserted in appropriate scenes. Listen carefully and u may find the same music "cues" were re-used repeatedly.

A technique really obvious in something like "The Avengers" tv series with various pieces by Laurie Johnson re-used throughout

@redasoft So, "directed by Harry Rabinowitz", means he was the conductor, I guess. Wikipedia says it was performed by the London String Chorale, although they don't seem to exist.

I have had this as my ringtone since my mare gave birth to a black colt three and a half years ago. I still love it and so many people ask me what it is and have a vague recollection of it. This is the best version!

I always loved the theme music to the series, it was on record years ago in the 1970s the full theme song.. but the series didn't use it all until the dequel was done in 1990.. you can get this on itv theme music cd with other tv series as well
