Oh my God, that was terrible!!! Big mistake singing with Nat "The King" Cole!!!! Sounds like bad karaoke!! Faith needs to pick someone way less talented to sing with. Stick with the Clay Aikens of the world.
BIG mistake by Faith. Having her voice besides Nat's shows just how weak a singer she is. Whereas Nat's rendition pays homage to Christ's birth, Faith's version is about herself. What a train wreck.
@Luchiano Get the spuds out of your ears, then look up the definition of tone deaf. It describes you perfectly. She is as "pitchy" as a singer can get. Her voice over Nat's is like listening to Itzhak Perlman playing a Guarneri while someone is dragging their nails across a blackboard. Nat's version is timeless and reverent. Evan's version is a warbley mess.
@ohger1 You're just a Faith hater. This is a mash up. It's not like they were in the studio to record together. Faith is one of the best R&B professional vocalist out right now and anyone saying she is pitchy...please.
@Luchiano I would have had to have heard of "Faith" beforehand to be a "hater". I found this video looking for Nat, not her. If you can find enjoyment from this abortion, then fine. I can guarantee you that 99% of the people who listen to Nat and the other legends won't like this self absorbed twit's version, particularly over Nat's. I'm sure you'd enjoy listening to a guy playing spoons over Mancini's Steinway....
smh....its sad that ppl cant express their opinion without bad mouthing an artist. See how well you do along side this LEGEND! alive or dead. Faith is an amazing singer whos voice is an aquired taste DEFINITELY not half assed. FAITH CAN SING CIRCLES AROUND HALF THESE LADIES OUT HERE LIVE AND IN STUDIO, SICK HEALTHY, BLIND DEAF AND DUMB! Its ok to not like her as we all have our faves but she deserves respect shes withstood more than some of us could
oh wow these must be lil'kim's fan base, no one in their right mind could say Faith could do any wrong w/ a voice like that. Hell to be honest I'd prefer to hear her do the song solo, she did a great job.
I don't see where she overdid it at. To me it was actually pretty simple compared to what she can do. If you think she overdid it then you would probably die if you heard Karen Clark Sheard singing on this song lol.
For all you Faith Hater, look to the left and do some Faith research or check out my favs. I'm bout to blow it up with Faith Evans live, and she is the real deal. Please dont sleep. I agree maybe not my favorite mix of the two, but its still a beautiful song
Peterwassink & others - I'm with you. The craze for seeing who can perform the most vocal acrobatics is wearing a bit thin. Celine Dion and co. helped to spread this style where singers do their best to avoid singing the actual melody as intended by the composer. Irony is that most of them have great voices and would be just as successful singing the songs straight.
She has a beautiful voice, and i don't mind the post mortem duet genre but she absolutely ruins it here with all those extra notes. Unfortunately this fashion has already lasted 2 decades. People seem to think: the more notes a singer stuffs into a line, the more beautiful or skillfull it is.
Personally i prefer a less is more approach to singing.
This is a perfect example of adding a woman who can "sing her azz off" and making one of the greatest songs of all time sound like an audition for American Idol. What a travesty. She needs to "sing her azz off" somewhere else. Nat King Cole sure doesn't need her input in his music.
i'm with you, man. why don't they just let old nat alone instead of pairing him with all these half-ass so called singers. i'll bet he's rolling around in his grave !!!
faith evans is a phenomenal singer, I imagine if nat king cole were alive he would be proud to sing a song with a true talent such as hers. Im suprised you like Nat King Cole at all because a comment like that makes it seem as though you know nothing about music.
Anthony Hamilton on Buon Natale is incredible. I bought the cd from Target the other day and didn't realize it was modern singers mixed with Nat. I thought it was all singers from Nat's time. Needless to say, I'm looking for more Anthony Hamilton, I hope he has actual blues albums and not just all modern R&B.
To me the best voices in female R&B belong to Faith, Blu Cantrell, Kelly Price, Whitney, Leona Lewis, Mariah, Mary J, Fantasia, Teena Marie and Christina Ag.
amazing!

Faiths singing doesn't fit the mood at all....
It's about tone and style.... seems as if even the great singers of today have forgotten this.

faith evans has a real nice voice, but this is a good example of how to mess up a perfectly good song.
