Probably has nothing to do with it. The Maverick virus stems directly from X himself. When Wily was building Zero and trying to replicate X's schematics, he was unable to reproduce it correctly. Thus X's complete free will (and most likely stemming from his Suffering Circuit) became a malfunction in Zero, a computer virus causing him to go berserk. Etc.
Mega Man 9's overall story was kinda blah. Mega Man 10 promises to be exciting, though. Roboenza, a virus that causes robots to malfunction and then go out of control? Hmm.... sounds familiar. Where have I heard of that before? Oh yea, Mega Man X, the Maverick Virus. Wily's grand creation had to have a prototype.
Obviously it's not as exciting as MM9. I mean, MM9 was a sudden re-emergence after over 10 years, with a step back into 8-bit because the fans wanted it. Now they're just continuing.
I guess, I'll give it a try anyway, I'm not expecting it to be as good or better then MM9, but still, Commando Man seems to be pretty good, Sheep Man doesn't amaze me, well I hope the Mega Man and Protoman thing is more like Mega Man X5 rather then how it was in MM9, and I hope Protoman can take more hits then what he could take in MM9.
