@walid562 Its ash not dust. Cremation is a way of... funeral... or something like that after death. Same thing happened to my dog. His ashes were spread around the mountains where I live.
@walid562 Because some people don't like the idea of sitting in a grave, taking up space and rotting for years after they die. It's not like he was being disrespectful by cremating her.
i am so grateful for my last only living grandmother but everytime i ask her about the 50 and 40s she shuts me up and starts degrading someone i love her to death just wish she would talk about the old days
these stories are beautifully sad and inspiring, i would think of my self as very macho guy but even i almost cried on the 9/11 story "She Was the One" but i will be forever inspired by his quot "I Will Do Enough Good To Make It Up To You."
the guy's voice when he's telling that his mom passed away...it's so touching. you can hear him trying hold back tears...
"I talk to my mom, every now and then, and tall her good night and I miss you" man, you always take these simple actions for granted and i guess only realize it until they're gone
These stories are great, but why does StoryCorps feel the need to make them so emotionally manipulative? I realize that a lot of the stories on here are sad stories, but this didn't need to be one. She was a strong old lady with no regrets- it should have ended on that note, not with her grieving grandchildren. It would have been a stronger video that way.
@jizzbitch69 StoryCorps is not about telling stronger stories. It's about telling true stories that are hidden yet too precious for it to be untold. It ended exactly the way it should have ended, with a recap of memories and strong emotions. Not all StoryCorps stories are like this way, as the matter of fact.
@ryusm92 It would still be a true story if they didn't tack on the end part where she's dead. It's possible to tell a true story that's strong in concept without adding a bunch of unnecessary details. Like in any piece of art, knowing which parts to cut out is just as important as knowing which parts to leave in.
Also, I agree that not all StoryCorps stories are like this (the audio ones on their website are great), but about 80% of the animated ones are.
I must say that i am so happy I came across this site, don't really know how i got here, but...... i'm happy i did. It's amazing how these stories will live on through us and inspire us to charish one another until the every end.
awwh i love her! she was so funny! and im so sorry that shes gone, but trust me when i say, i dont see many of us forgeting her any time soon, thanks for sharing her wonderful storys with us!
i recently had an argument with my mother. im not really good at controlling my temper so i said some not so nice things to her. i just wanted to thank you for sharing your story because shortly afterwards i apologised to her and told her i loved her. i study away from home and the first thing im going to do when im back is hug her because you never know when its your last.
I'm 15, and I usually never cry over anything. Didn't cry during Marley and Me, didn't cry during The Notebook, just, basically, any type of sappy movie you can think of, I wouldn't cry. This made me bawl, for hours. Maybe it's because of the fact that I only have one grandparent left, and that we rarely see her, and that this reminds of her, and the fact that she won't be here for much longer. I don't know, all I can say is please keep up this fantastic work.
I luvvv storycorps their funny but sad to think their gone:( awe how sad at least we will remember them especially when they r hilarious roflz:) God bless everyone
I love these cartoons they are about all kinds of people. I'm more touched about the fact that they have a place for old people in their cartoons. Something must people try to avaoid in this society. Great work!
I hate how someone usually dies after making these interviews. I know it is a part of life, but after hearing their stories I love them, then I find out they died and it breaks my heart and I miss them Lol.
