  • @sixpackshortcuts Hi Mike, I've been training seriously for the past 7 weeks only with heavy dumbbells. I am noticing changes in my phisique, my only question is, can I still get a big chest, shoulders and arms just by following your workouts that only involve using heavy dumbbells? I only train at home because I don't have great access to a gym, can I still achieve results???

  • guys, you don't necessarily need to lift heavily if you want to build a big chest. strength doesn't necessarily pump your chest. you can also get a chest pump by doing light weight, but a lot of reps, but not too light of weight.

  • hey im 17 and have been going to the gym for 6 months if i choose a weight i can only finish reps of 8 on e.g 60kg by the 3rd set on about 5th 6th rep my arms physcially can't lift the weight no matter how hard i try..should i lower the weight so i can finish the set or keep it the same..help would be appriciated

  • @goldenguides i'm 17 as well and have been bodybuilding for eight months. i recommend you finding your bench max, because it seems like you're lifting for strength. once you find your max, put on 60-70% of the weight of your max and do four sets of 8 reps each. also, i highly suggest you focus on using strictly your chest whenever you lift the weight. like, flex your pecs on each press , so it's not focused on your arms nearly as much.

  • @goldenguides Its okay that you cant always do more reps, but get a workout partner or someone in the gym to spot you so you can get those two extra reps done. also it is safer.

  • Hmm im already skinny, but all i do is pushups for chest :( And it has gotten larger but now it just stays in 1 size all the time, so i have started to do pushups with my feets on a chair, but i know it will be to easy sooner or later. Anyone have any tip i can do for more resistance? I have a gym card already but now when its winter i have not been there for over 2 months..So i have to work at home! HELP ME PLEASE!!!

  • @MrMagickent Its like this Monday I do maybe 150 pushups on a single day not all at once but spread out over the day and on Tuesday i might do 60 pull/chin on a day and I change my grip each set i do :S what grip should i do pull ups to train chest as much as possible?

    P.S im from sweden so sorry if you dont understand me :P

  • @JokoHaqa well i'm not an expert but from what i know you get to a point where that exercise doesn't have a big impact as before if you do it for a long time, so change your exercises every month or so.

    dumbbell press and bench press are the most effective to build a chest

  • @sixpackshortcuts or anyone please. If I don't want to rely on a spotter should I go with a dumbell press in place of barbell or a smith machine. Or should I just try and get spots when I can? What do you suggest? And also thank you for all of your work.

  • @therealmcgimmick Do dumbbell press before resorting to smith machine if you don't have a spotter. It's pretty much just as good as barbell press, probably even better because you have to work your stabilizing muscles even more with dumbbells. Barbell bench is just better for ego cause you can put up more weight with it, haha. But yeah, if you don't have a spotter, better to hit heavy dumbbells before any kind of machine, definitely.

    Break time is always the minimum amount of recovery time required for you to be able to complete all reps in your next set with proper form.

  • @Evildriser I workout purely from home with mainly dumbells. Heres a few tips and tricks to get around the lack of equipment. 1, when doing any exercise laying on the floor put a few pillows underneath you and something to rest your head on and of course go heavy and the pillows will let you get the stretch you need. For incline press/flys put the pillows against the wall (so you don't injure your shoulder blades).

  • @jsalkie If you can get a friend or someone you live with to wrap a 10kg or heavier weight and hold it on your back when doing push ups. Good luck.

  • Take 3 Tomatoes, 250 gm of broad beans, 250gm of cabbage mix them in the blender with some water and have it. this is one of the natural ways of increasing the HGH levels

  • hmmm... ...so bench press is a chest exercise... ...well perhaps for the beginners... ...from a certail point - it's all about triceps my friends... ;) ...but you will still need chest, shoulders and lats to work as practically your whole body... ...yes - benchpress is a full-body exercise and don't believe anyone who tells you otherwise - they are doing it wrong...

  • How come when you first start you do more reps?

  • @ChunkeyOats ...because yousually your triceps gets tired first... ...either get used to it or lower the rep, extend the pause or train your triceps harder... ...an important thing is not to go till exhaustion in your first set - that should happen, if even, in the last set... ...i can sometimes do more on my 2nd set but almost all the time i do less on my 3rd than on my 1st... ...so there you go...

  • @mushihimesama911 ...i do a 2-day split with chest+back+biceps and i go heavy (<8reps or even <5reps up to 1rm) once and light (12-15 reps) the next time, and i go 3x a week... ...in other words if i go heavy on monday, i go light again on friday - but in the next week i do chest only once, after that twice again... ...this program is usually meant for 4-day training week but it works for me anyway... ...i do 2 exercises, 3 sets each...

  • What if I can't do wide grip at all? I've tried to use barbell presses but for some reason my right shoulder hurts. I even had my personal trainer help me find the right posture. I can only do dumbbell presses and my shoulder doesnt hurt that way. Are there any alternatives to barbells or should I do what I can with dumbbells for bigger chest?

    I really want to get a bigger chest and bigger biceps. I am not over weight so i want to focus on gaining more muscle. I don't have enough money to get a gym pass or anything but I have time at home to workout at home. Ive seen your chest and bicep workout video where you do the 4 sec push ups and then the bicep curls. My question is can i do that workout alone or should i incorporate a bunch different exercises and everyday? Any feedback from you would be great thanks :) -Taylor

  • @Clarkeisawesome If you have two weights that are the same or have equipment that lets your hands be off the ground, then put your legs up on a table to they are higher than your body. Touch your nose off of the ground, and when that gets too easy put weights on your back and do it :)

  • I have a question for anyone that wants to answer. Am I on track for me to be 16 years old? I am 6' tall, i weigh about 153 pounds (all muscle i think), I bench 170, and i curl 35.

  • @jedimasterviewtifjoe Yea absolutely, i am also 16 and does almost the same weights. Although i weight 167 pounds all muscle. This is some good shit for us so you are definitely on track, it's sure works for me, better than anything else. I have gain some good muscle mass just by following mike, eating a lot and only good food. My mom even asked if i took muscle-growing pills the other week.. so just have patience and be consistent, and you'll be jacked in no time ;)!

  • Okay well I'm not hating on this guy or his videos or his workouts or anything, but all I'm saying is you people should do your own research (preferably not on Youtube) if you want to workout and eat healthy. Just saying!!!

  • @patwwe well with the millions of "guarunteed fitness plans" out there, youtube is probably the best because you can find REAL people who have gone through what you're going through in fitness. Not only that, but for those that document their progress, you can see the results as opposed to the plans that make you pay loads of money before getting any results (sometimes they don't work).

  • @blizhniyboy95 Push ups are good for beginners but to put on mass you need to do heavy lifting with Flat bench incline bench decline bench dumbbell press all kinds of heavy lifting.

  • Why when starting off workout need to go for higher reps instead for lower reps? Why is it dangerous ?

  • @xiaopai89 because in order to be able to successfully do a lot more reps, you're going to be lifting lighter weight. I highly recommend doing this and getting your technique right and feeling comfortable first before progressing in weight. Once the reps start getting easier, move up in weight.

  • @xiaopai89 Higher reps means lower weight, but doing it more times. Lower reps means higher weight, which can be dangerous for beginners if you fail and get injured.

  • I'm 15 and I'm pretty skinny. I've got decent arms and abs but my chest seems too small. My lower chest has a gap between my lower pecs so are their certain exercises to get rid of this?
