This album is what really got me started on "the punk"- call it a gateway album. I bought So Long and Thanks For All the Shoes, and Dude Ranch off some kid at school long before I heard Very Proud of Ya, but I had never heard anything like this. I'm not going to say it's better than "So Long...." but it's certainly on it's own level. This is one of the few albums in my library that doesn't go on hiatus.
AFI didn't turn their back on the past. Davey is still connected with the hardcore scene - he still comes to shows, he still respects the bands and the music, he's still edge. They wanted to try something else? More power to them. He's still aware of his roots. I clearly prefer this era of AFI over Decemberunderground, but what can you do? @HoosierMF while I do agree that afi lost a little bit of meaing in Crash Love, I think that they are just trying to find something differnt. The Medicate video was much differnt than all the other ones that they have done, so I think that right now they are in another changing state. To add to the change since this CD and Crash, the band members have also changed, and since Jade writes all the actually music, that adds a lot to it.

U know what this is like it's like American Idol when someone sings really really bad and Paula always says it was amazing even though she knows it was horrible. Thts wht Decemerundeground was like.
