yeah this method is very ineffective, nobody that throws knives would ever throw a knife like a spear! And for distance, throwing like this would no work, too much force on the butt of the knife would eventually turn the knife at greater distances. Furthermore, it takes to long to place the knife in this hold to then throw it.

If you want throw no spin, try holding it by the handle, standard throwing style, and just as you're about to release, brush the edge of the knife with your fingertip. I know that sounds sort of hard to duplicate at first, but it gets easy after practice.... a lot more effective than whatever he's doing...

You can still use the spinning technique for longer throws. But only if your skilles enough to control where the knife does its full rotation. However I feel it is easier through from the blade at longer distances because you only need a 180 spin right at the mid distance.

Only problems I see with that technique is one it doesn't look like you can get could distance compared to the flip method and two you'd have to have a large knife to grip it in that manner probably larger than most throwing knives tat are about 9-10 inches total length. If you have to get that close to the enemy, [he's only actually letting it fly about 4-6 ft] you might as well dash forward and stab him, I mean really.

Seriously, most people are limp-wristed pansies who don't understand fundamentals. I have been throwing knives and hatchets/axes for 24 yrs and I am STILL PRACTICING. Anyone who watches a video and then goes out and tries to replicate what has takes years to be able to achieve, is bound for failure. That failure leads them in many cases to conclude that the technique is impractical, when it is their training.

If you shape 3 fingers and your thumb like a barrel then when throwing you flick your wrist your and and retract the fingers so you stroke the handle very slighty. If you practice with screwdrivers first you can spin it like and dart and slowly start throwing other things that cant really be spun without ending in a fail.
