  • That is some damn impressive gear jammin! I love it.

  • @NdaWoodz I always love it when a know it all like you comes around and tells me how to drive my trucks. First of all let me say one more time...You drive your truck the way you want to and I'll drive mine the way I was taught over 28 years ago. And just for the record, I have never lost a clutch, throw out bearing, drive shaft, rear, or anything else that relates to how I shift in 28 years. I think that in itself will speak for me. Thank You Have a Nice Day.

  • i would do anything for a old redone pete, the old ones beat the hell out of the new ones

  • Awesome!

  • Nice truck Brad glad to see ya using the clutch thats how i shift the Blue Mule.

  • fuckin hammer down bud. love it

  • Lets see some gear skippin.

  • Gear it man !!!!

  • did you use the cluthc for shifting ?

  • yea !!! Stick it !!!

  • Do you pull anything with IT.....WHAT GEAR RATIOS 4:10 OR 4 :33'S

  • i would love to own one of them

  • cat cummins detroit doesnt matter you can mate that tranny up with any of them. it isnt designed for any one motor

  • thats a dam fine Pete and the color rocks !!!

  • i like the old shift pattern i have to move my uncles flat bed all the time and his truck is like that and im only 15 and know how to use this pattern

  • the reason is the peterbilt i was in had a cat diesel and transmition and had that same shift patter and another peterbilt i was in also had that kind of a transmition and dident have that shift pattern so i allways though only catapiller made that shift pattern

  • It doesnt look 30 years old. Nice fire engine red! nice truck.

  • Ha going over the bridge at 2:45... There always seems to be a 4-wheeler stuck to our rear huh?

  • hmm...thats the old O/D shift pattern. L-1-2 are normal, 3rd is on the bottom right, 4th is top right. I havnt seen one of those in a while. My dad used to drive a Jimmy with that type of tranny in it. Im used to driving the more modern straight forward transmissions. I've been trying my luck on a "Twin-Stick" grain truck at work, THAT'S FUN...LOL....nice truck man!

  • Man I am GLAD I missed the days of the twin stick. I'll just keep my upcoming eaton fuller 13 the company's giving me. It seems like a champ.

  • All 15 overs are like that.

  • I don't think the engine, weather cat or cummins, has any effect on what trans the truck has. I've seen the "backwards" pattern such as this on Cats and Cummins trucks. I believe its an overdrive tranny is why its like that. Some newer 18 speeds are like that too....I've driven one.

  • This truck has a overdrive shift pattern. Most people are familiar with RTLO 13 and 18 speeds where 3rd gear is to the RIGHT AND UP INSTEAD OF TO THE RIGHT AND DOWN like this truck has.

  • 15 over

  • that thing is pretty bad ass.

would have never guessed in a million years it's a 78!

  • is this truck forsale cause i want it

  • I would sell it,but I am not advertising it. Call me if you like,828-612-3447

  • WOW, the truck looks like brand new for being that old! can't beat the sound of a cummins!!!!

  • if your clutch and clutch brake are in adjustment and good shape and you drop rpm too fast you can hit the hole while double clutching

  • man thats a strange ass gear pattern.. unless your skipping some gears

  • that sort of looks like a catpiler shift pattern cause that is the way i belive that there transmition is set up to shift

  • Comment removed

  • looks like an eaton 15 speed rto. i got the same tranny in mine its a 90 pete 378. he didint use the low reduction gears dont need them empty. about them being cat tranny i dont know mine says EATON on it

  • Hmmmm?? Strange gear pattern, where are you from?,I have 7 trucks with that same pattern. You guys drive'm however you want to, I've been driving them for 25 years so I ain't gonna change now.

  • i agree i love the up against the dash pattern! i owned an 87 pete with the same tranny i love it!

  • cool

  • Nice pete! very impressive, nice shiftin doesn't get much better than that boys

  • I was under the impression that when you double clutch you need to rev the engine to the appropriate rpm for the next gear (after clutching it once)... anyone know?

  • That is what you do when you gear down.

  • beautiful peterbilt  A+++++++++++++++++++

  • god damn hes scratching the shit out of those gears, my god me an my dad can out do him so bad that it would be rediculous

  • you would never bet brad at shifting any transmission

  • That's a sharp looking Pete. Sound good too.

  • Damn, that was some quick Double-Clutching.

  • What kind of motor is in this truck

  • nicely edited. ok i have a question, why is your video quality so good even when u edited it and even without hd its christal clear, pls respond, wut program do u use

  • That is some lighting fast shifting. Damn son...

  • bobtailing like that youdon't need to hit all those low gears, but for the sake of demonstrating all the gears it looks pretty neat

  • thats wut i call shifting!!!!

  • Is that a double shifter?

  • Used to run an '84 359 (non-extended-hood)....brings back memories! Te '06 379 I run today isn't screwed together half as good....and has 2 million less miles.

  • dude bitchin shiftin but can you do that with no clutch just wondering

not tryin to be a jerk

by the way KICK ASS pete

  • Awsome sound and a beautiful truck.

  • OOPS... RD = DR short for Deep Reduction I just got dyslexic for a minute. On 8LL the gears are there like a 15 speed, but DR is only "suppose" to be used in LOW gear. Kinda like a 9spd - 13 spd - 18 spd when you go to high side you do not use LOW (or 1st) like on a 10 spd pattern, BUT the gear is there. The transmission on my truck is an RTLO-22918B and torque rated to the maxx!!!! To my knowledge the biggest you can get in a class 8 truck.

  • Is the main transmission an RTO-12515 Roadranger? If so, the shifting pattern repeats up to three times (the bottommost five gears are used only when starting on grades, not on the highway where you use the typical low five and high five gears).

  • In a sense you are correct. A 15 speed can use 5 gears in deep deduction, 5 in low and 5 in high. BUT if you were starting in deep reduction and wanted to keep moving when you come out of DR you drop down one gear with the stick at the same time you come out of RD and then shift the next gear again. Typically 5th back to 4th (9th) then back to 5th (10th) and then click on to the high side 11th, 12th etc. to 15th MAKE SENSE? same with 8LL BUT only suppose to use RD in very first gear ONLY on 8LL

  • sounds great.. wanna hear the jakes

  • If I'm ever down that way I'd love to see the herd and go for a drive. Would be a dream come true!

Great work with all of your restored trucks and your works in progress. Keep keeping history alive!

  • GOD DANM 1:08 thru 1:23 god that's music to my ears i can't get enough of it man!!!!!!!!!

  • how did you post those 1:08 and 1:23 so it would go to those points in the video?

  • i couldn't agree more with you!!!!greeting from greece all truckers around teh world!!!keep haulin!!!!yeeeehaaa!!!

  • thats most impressive shifting i ever seen, sick truck,

  • That's flippin' awesome!! He's one "double clutchin' weasel"!!

  • Thanks! I'll take that compliment,hehe!

  • your double clutch are very good!

  • seriously, you have to watch closely to even see you switching the gear ranges!

  • shit man thats a beautiful truck !

  • Thanks for the ride!

  • cool video !!!!

  • Reminds me of the "Orinco" truck in pet semetary...Haulin ass down those cool curvey little streets....lol

  • Yea and it also reminds me of Rusty Nail's truck from Joyride. He could hall some ass in that old Pete of his til it got blown up in part two and then he just bought a new one! lol

  • Yes I did.

I am not going to Winchester, But will be in Petersburg Va. at the Truckin Nationals Oct. 25.

  • i noticed at the last gear it had a whine to it. Does make a overdrive howl like those RTO 12513's do?

  • brings back memory's like in marks 1979 359 silver pete that he got from cliffhanger and he dont shift that fast and who's driving

  • gotta love em old big cam cummins. There good motors. Nice pete by the way.

  • nice truck!!!

  • I LOVE this video!!! that old girl says class front to back! i love the footage and stills...especially the bridge shots. keep it up brother!

  • Thanks Man!!

  • Dang dude. Thats the way a truck should sound and look. Not like the plastic toys we have today

  • Funny you say that. I found out VOLVO is the only steel cab/sleeper made. Aluminum is what other cabs are made out of and the reason you can not slap "magnetic" removable signs on the door like you would a pick up truck (hot shot). Guaranteed the cab inside is plastic and my hood fiberglass. ha ha NICE looking 359 for sure and I am not of fan of red vehicles... BUT that looks sharp I must admit. Can not beat the classic looks of yesteryear, but love todays comfort and fuel mileage. GREAT VIDEO
