@jasfromct Well, there's no replacing Benny Bell. But novelty and comedy albums continue to be released by other artists. Weird Al has been in the game for a long time now, and apart from his parodies of existing songs he's done a number of originals that are quite good.

"Jack of All Trades" is awesome. That song wins. :)

In the words of a certain violinist on the Titanic, "Gentlem(a)n, it has been a privilege playing with you tonight." vis: a certain evening in Westwood, NJ, wherein I had the privilege of accompanying said author of "Grandpa Had a Long One" on piano for the taping of the brilliantly reconstructed "Shaving Cream Re-Do", an updated version of the Benny Bell classic.  All I can say is "Aaargh."

Benny Bell (1906-1999) LIVES ON! Through music ("Everybody Wants My Fanny," "Take a Ship for Yourself," "Grandpa Had a Long One," "Shaving Cream" and lots more), through books like the one this YouTube video is about, and through word of mouth. As he might say in a song, keep it up!

This book is destined to be a hit. Benny Bell (or Poppy Benny, to me and my children, as I am his granddaughter) was a unique individual and his legacy looms large in my life and the lives of everyone he came in contact with. I can't wait to read this book. It will refresh my memory about the wonderful, loving grandpa I knew and loved, and I'm sure I'll learn some new tidbits about his extraordinary life as an entertainer and entrepreneur.
