It is not fair for Ricky Rubio to have this much hype because he needs time to learn how to play in the NBA. Remember that European basketball strictly follows FIBA rules while the NBA has their own rules. I think this is the biggest adjustment he has to do in order succeed in the league.

I think John Wall is much quicker than Rubio, so are most of the top point guards in the NBA. The level of speed in the NBA is far beyond the Euro game.

His playing style kinda reminds me of another point guard who is undersized and not the greatest athlete, but has somehow stuck around in the league for a good amount of time...maybe you've heard of him, Steve Nash. He's also pretty gritty (which he seldom gets credit for but consider the number of times he has gotten his nose broken/bleeding). When you factor in Nash's deft touch from anywhere on the floor, there actually is less in common with Rubio than there is more.

I don't understand why people so hyped about him??? He's amazingly overrated. He's a good passer, but thats it! He can't shoot and he scores like 2 points a game. He played terribly for barcelona and even worse for national team. Nba guards gonna own him. Minnesota made a mistake drafting him. For last two or three years his game is going downhill... In eurobasket 2011 all the guards was owning him. You can't be a pg in the nba if you not scoring, unless you are J. Kidd (he can shoot though).

don't know about true skill yet, but as far as flash goes there comparison to j-will has to stop. This kid has absolutely nothing on jason williams. J-will was a freak. Search and see for yourself. This guy is alright.

Stephen Strasburg, Bryce Harper, Ricky Rubio, etc. Their talents are undeniable. I laugh really hard when people say "they won't make it in the pros". What proof do you need? Every athlete started somewhere. They all had to "prove themselves" at one point. I'm not saying Harper is the next Mantle, or that Rubio is the next MJ, but seriously guys, stop discriminating against young, world-class athletes just because you're jealous that you're not nearly as talented as they are.

No, he's not on the level of Chris Paul at all or Derrick Rose. Both would blow by him in a heartbeat. He's more like a want-a-be Steve Nash or Pete Maravich but with a little better athletics. He has great hands and decent speed though. It would be interesting seeing how he does in the NBA. I'm not sure how he's rated internationally, so I can't say if he's over or underrated.

Ricky is the future prototypical point guard in the NBA. Great skills and knowledge for the game, and hes a winner. Wont be surprised to see him lead the twolves to the playoffs right away. Hes my favorite player. Check out my channel, many people say I play like ricky.

His playing style kinda reminds me of another point guard who is undersized and not the greatest athlete, but has somehow stuck around in the league for a good amount of time...maybe you've heard of him, Steve Nash. Ricky'll be an offensive maestro if he's given enough time to develop, but he does need a lot more work on defense.

@nwwong Dude, your nutty. Steve Nash happened to be one of the faster PG's throughout his NBA career. He's also pretty gritty (which he seldom gets credit for but consider the number of times he has gotten his nose broken/bleeding). When you factor in Nash's deft touch from anywhere on the floor, there actually is less in common with Rubio than there is more.
