  • Srry I meant 4.9L

  • Nice video. I have a 95 f150 1/2 ton with a 300ci 5.9L i6 and I want more power out of it, any suggestions?

  • @FastFord65 turbo.

  • Nope bone stock

  • Did you do any head porting or put in "Lumps"?

  • Comment removed

  • my 78 four door is the same color. the car and engine are all stock and it only has 87,000 miles on it (great grand dad bought it new for great geandma, and she only drove it to church) sat for 12 years in the drive after she passed though (besides when he would have the oil changed and such) so it looks bad, but runs so so so good. i've thought about turboing it if the engine ever goes, but i dont know. its nearly impossible to find 33 year old car with such low miles that's all stock still.

  • Am highly digging the sound it's making!

  • what header did you use or is it a custom made one?

  • @hulk625 I built a custom uppipe.

  • Did you use the stock intake or is it an offy or clifford?

  • @hulk625 Offy 4bbl Intake

  • lol sounds like a rc car sweet turbo i noe that bitch just makes u smile when u dust those imports haha

  • I've got the same color 72 nova. L6 and all

  • sounds like a cummins 6bt thats wasome!!

  • @dirteeter32 Yeah with a 3"downpipe it did even more. Was fun until it destroyed itself.

  • @ChevyIIMan Oh many really? what happend, any plans for a rebuid?

  • Hi there I was woundering how would be this engine with two t25 mitsubshi turbo on it ,I have a Brazilian Puma GTB that cames with the same engine and my dream is to get a six speed zf or t-56 in to it and twinturbo ,do you believe is possible to fit the transmission ? and the turbo is a good idea I have ?because I have the two turbos ,I would apreciate any idea about it ,by the way cool machine !

  • What turbo did you use?I have a 77 with a 250 I am thinking of turning into a sleeper and a turbo six has interested me for years.

  • Wow dude this is awesome! Thinking about maybe turboing my 250 in my 69 Buick Special Deluxe but what would something like this cost?

  • Wow who ever helped you on what parts to use?

Do you have a new engine in it now?

    Hope it's still a 6.

  • The 6 is still in it sans Turbo since it shot craps. I picked all the parts myself and did the research online.

  • what happened to the turbo?

  • Bearings went out on a trip, took out the bearings, shaft, both impellers...

  • No just the same old tired 6. and yes still a six but plans are to put the v8 back in whiles I find a good 250ci 6 to rebuild and work the head on.

  • It was not completed in this video, the final product was a blowthrough setup.

  • in the video there apears to be carb with an air filter on top so weres the air getting forced in

  • In the video the setup was not fully connected so yes there is still an air cleaner on top.

  • how much money do u think u have into that motor? u can PM me if thats more comfortable. i want to build a turbo but dont know the cost. what all do u have done to the internals? did u bore it 30 over or 60? some help would be nice thanks

  • The Motor came with the Car, $60 in the turbo, $30 in pipe, $100 in the intake and $75 in the carb. Maybe another $50 in misc pieces. $100 in the exhaust.

  • where did you buy the turbo.

  • Off of a Turbo Buick Forum.

  • The motor is BONE STOCK 74,000 miles. Only thing i have touched is the head I had the seats replaced and the valves cut.

  • o ok. thats cheap! haha but shouldnt u have done something to the cam from what i've read?

  • @2soccerfreak2 Oh yeah it needed new rings, has a ton of blowby. A cam would help, some head work like on the ports, ect... more efficient turbo manifold too. But this was more of a i have the parts can i make it work attempt.

  • its awesome none the less. i see its almost 3 years old so is it all up and working on the road now?

  • Was for a while till the turbo gave out due to oiling issues. It was fun but i have yet to pick up a new turbo and work on rebuilding it.

  • i hope i can pull off a turbo setup on my i6

  • @theracetube Its not that hard, just make sure you read up on the fudamentals and be safe :)

  • I have a 74 nova that i swapped from a 250 to V8 and i have a 74 Ventura with 13,000 miles currently with the 250 and this would be an awesome project. I love to see guys mixin it up its just cool. Good job hope everything works out.

  • hey man. what you have to do before install that turbo? do you have electronic ignition?

    thanks

  • Made sure I had a solid fuel system, adjustable regulator, I run a MSD Digital 6 Ignition box, Wideband o2 and data logging box.

  • that looks to be in a nova so how does it work. did you drive it yet all done? bet its a blast :)

  • 230ci and the trubo I got off a Buick GN Forum. The T3 from the GN is a good match for 230-250 Inline 6's

  • so would that hook up to my ford 250 ci engine?

  • @bmxxx4132 any turbo will but the GN turbo is a good match for this size engine. 3.8 in the GN vs a 4.1 with the 250.

As for power I have no idea at 6psi I was able to keep good good AFR's but it was a tired motor so as for HP increases i couldn't begin to determine.

  • what size is your six? and where did you get the turbo?

  • @billyman740 its a 230ci and the turbo came from a Turbo Buick forum.

  • hey man nice nova. do you know where i could buy good parts for my 77? i have a stock 250 and need more power.

  • @neospeardude I made the setup myself, stock lower manifold with a up pipe. nothing fancy.

  • 68 camaro?

  • 72 Nova

  • its cool and all but whats the point off a turbo jeep? you cant mud. you dont reach power till a higher RPM, so you cant really crawl, and obviously its not a street racer. the gearing isnt set up for speed....that bein said BADASS!, id do it :)

  • It isn't a Jeep. It's a Chevy II. Also, not everyone goes 'muddin' in their Jeeps. Go to Jeepsunlimited and tell them you plan on taking a Jeep through mud and you'll ALWAYS get at least one person telling you that mud sucks or that they hate mud. Turbos can make low RPM power. You can use a smaller turbo so it spools faster or you could use a variable geometry turbo so you have minimal lag. It is awesome though.

  • yea i totally think its cool. i just forget their not built JUST for muddin

  • what car is that?

  • @josemustang65 1972 Chevy Nova

  • dam what kinda car iz dat an how much

    horsepower u packin

  • Comment removed

  • do you think you could do the same ste up for a 77 300ci inline 6? and if yu can how much, like an estiment to your knowledge?

  • The turbo was a T3 from a 3.8L Buick. Had 3" exhaust mandrel bent, no cat, and a Super 40 Flowmaster.

  • what did you use for an exhaust manifold?

  • Stock exhaust manifold, with a j-pipe off the end. Not ideal as the exhaust backs up it also superheats the intake. First run design though.

  • hmm what size/brand turbo do you have? 3" exhaust works the best...high flow cat/straight through muff. I'm thinking about the same setup, great work bud

  • nice work, but got nothing to m50 turbo!

  • 250 ,292,235?

  • 230

  • Did you have to mess with the Air/Fuel mixture so it wont run too lean? Also would it be possible to put one on a 383 stroker?

    Thanks

  • Its possible to Turbocharge anything really. As for the A/F yeah we had to play with the jetting in the Holley 2bbl to get it right under WOT conditions.

  • so did u install it yourself

    or had someone do it

  • This was fully installed and fabricate by myself.

  • great job

    looks good

  • that sounds like a great car ,i have a camero '74 that im trying to fix myself i wuold apriciate any tips you may have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! : )

  • I just bought a Carb Hat off ebay, and Used suprisingly PVC piping to connect them with some rubber couplers.

    Cheap and Dirty

  • ok im buying a turbo this friday off of a eclipse and i have about everything figured out except how to hook it to the carb how did you do it? and did u use a 4bbrl or the factory 1bbrl im planing on using the 1bbrl great vid!!!

  • Sounds like a fucking tractor.

  • Well considering the 292 inline 6 was widely used by John Deer as a tractor engine im not suprised.

  • Well it's so damn powerful. They put the straight sixs in 15,000-20,000 pound trucks back in the 60s and 70s.

  • What company sells the turbo manifold and the supercharger kit? What compression ratio are you running?

  • That tired old 230 maybe has 8:1cr possibly less. There is one company that sells them for around $700 cast iron pieces but honestly making your own is easy. That's what I did just some sch.40 pipe and a welder.

  • Uhh why do you put turbos on these old engines that run great then the engine throws all the rods out the block because of the turbo seriously?

  • The Inline 6 is a very very strong engine. 1 Maincap per rod, and ive seen these push 30-40psi properly prepped and never have an issue.

  • Hi! I'm from Brazil. I saw your video and I liked so much; That's very good! I would like you see my video too, named: "Opala troca diferencial e câmbio!".

    Thanks, Luzmaropala - Brazil.

  • nice

  • where do you get supercharger and turbo kits for these engine i have a 230 in a 65 chevy truck

  • This was custom built, but there are a few company that sell supercharger kits. And one that sells a turbo manifold but the rest is all DIY no full kits avaliable.

  • Is this in a 66, 67 chevy II or a 68-72 nova?

  • Its a 72

  • almost sounds like a gas operated cummins. lol.

  • I know funny huh, with the completed exhaust uncorked it really did.

  • Looks like a draw thru type manifold. Am I right? Where did you get the parts for that? I am thinking about doing a turbo for the '72 250 L6 that's going into my '47 Chevy truck. I have the Leo Santucci book but need to get Corky's book too.

  • Its just not fully hooked up. It was completed as a blow thru setup.

  • Is that turbo connected to intake?

Its got a filter on top of carb?

  • sounds like a 7M-GTE! very nice

  • mmmm i would stick the mic by the exhaust so we could hear better =)

  • It's a 230 Chevy.

But he is thinking on switching back to a V-8.

  • is that a 200 ci 6 in a mustang?

  • 230ci in a Chevy Nova

  • oh, damn, i was looking at a '67 mustang with a 200ci, and am trying to figure out what it would sound like....

  • we have in argentina a 250ci with 450hp and no turbo,we´ll try one turbo and see.

  • That's a great job man. I have a 292ci and can barely make 350hp. Mine is driveable on the street though; I like it, lots of torque and great sound!

  • Cool!

If u rev it, leave time for the turbo to slow down before turning off engine, otherwise when engine stops so does oil pressure, if turbo is spinning to fast it will damage bearings!!

I love these engines, from UK.

  • yes i´ve heard about that,i don´t know too much about turbos

  • if you wanna feel the power of a inline 6 check "Mariano Acebal Turismo Carretera " it´s a camera in a race car from argentina.3.0 liter engine 350 hp.enjoy it.

  • Yes good sound that!

  • what an inspiration lol
