The big blocks have a rather large stroke, therefore alot of power lost in movement. In the very beginning of this video you can hear noticeable amount of supercharger whine which is very distinct from a turbocharger. A well built 355 can easily make 450-600hp naturally aspirated, add the supercharger and he has the torque to get those fat rubber tires to break lose as was evident in his burnout.

That 355 with the supercharger is still well under the power the Audi is making, which is exactly the point I was trying to make. The thing people fail to realize is that now that Audi is probabaly blown up 10 times over pushing that much boost where as the Nova is still going fine.

It's been used in many variations since the 50's, many have 500k on them. The newer BMW's are unreliable, yes. My old E30 on the other hand was amazing, 285,000 when it was crushed and still running...albeit poorly. If you want to compare cars we don't own my friend has an 06 GTI that is in the shop more than it's running, as well as my old roomates VR6,no thanks!

@04prox2 Golf VR6 2,9 have been a BIG problem for VW, and the 05-06 GTI had some turbo and electric problems, but it aint Audi at all. My Audi A4 1,8 TQS have been extremly good, and in the winter they are just insain. Perfect wintercar and is very easy to get more power out of the engines. I belive that Americans loves US cars because they are US cars, not because they are so extremly good.. There is a very good reason why there is so few US car shops here. PS. i like them, but wont buy them...

As I said, I love muscle cars just as I love old Audi Quattros, Aston Martins, Lancias or some new cars (There aren't too many new cars wich have a sprit like the old ones though...). I just don't like those V8-fanboys who are like "euro-crap is worth nothing! Asian cars are crap, american muscle is the only way to go" and so on... I think every kind of car has it's reason and right to exist and can be cool in a diferent way!

@04prox2 HAHA 400 hp? You don't tub out a rear end and put meats on a 400 hp muscle car. In the very beginning of this video you can hear noticeable amount of supercharger whine which is very distinct from a turbocharger. A well built 355 can easily make 450-600hp naturally aspirated, add the supercharger and he has the torque to get those fat rubber tires to break lose as was evident in his burnout.

@drewnashty Tell that to that guy that put a 4 link and traction bars in mine before I bought it. A well built N/A 355 isn't making 600 HP, my 383 is very well built and only making 500. That 355 with the supercharger is still well under the power the Audi is making, which is exactly the point I was trying to make. The thing people fail to realize is that now that Audi is probabaly blown up 10 times over pushing that much boost where as the Nova is still going fine.

@04prox2 What electric issues?? i have had 4 Audis, and NEVER had any eletric problems at all. There is 1 issue with audis, but it aint that. The resale price is bad in US, but not in Europe. I got a friend that is selling us cars here in Europe, and his own words is that there arent 1 singel us car that beat Audi on winter roads. Not my words, since i dont know every US car.. hehe..

@Truckman311977 There is no denying the fact that the SBC is one of the most reliable, popular and easiest motors to make power with. It's been used in many variations since the 50's, many have 500k on them. The newer BMW's are unreliable, yes. My old E30 on the other hand was amazing, 285,000 when it was crushed and still running...albeit poorly. If you want to compare cars we don't own my friend has an 06 GTI that is in the shop more than it's running, as well as my old roomates VR6,no thanks!

I bought my first Audi because my family have 6 of them.. well, the only problem i have had is something in the steering.. ( dont know the English name.... )
But 04prox2.. you are talking about VW golf, not Audi. there is a big diffrent. Golf doesent have some of the same engines from the smaller Audis ( 1,6 - 1,8 - 1,9 tdi )

@04prox2 Golf VR6 2,9 have been a BIG problem for VW, and the 05-06 GTI had some turbo and electric problems, but it aint Audi at all. My Audi A4 1,8 TQS have been extremly good, and in the winter they are just insain. Perfect wintercar and is very easy to get more power out of the engines. I belive that Americans loves US cars because they are US cars, not because they are so extremly good.. There is a very good reason why there is so few US car shops here. PS. i like them, but wont buy them...

Americans love US cars because the muscle cars created a mystique here, as they have in parts of Scandinavia and Australia as well. I'll be the first to agree that most of the modern ones are crap. My ideal garage would comprise of my current Camaro, an 07 STi and an M5. I like/respect cars from everywhere. And FYI, my family came from Sweden and Finland.

LOL this Audi motor (5 cylinder 2.2 liter 20 valve turbo is a fucking LEGEND) and is as reliable as a toyota 22 R 4 cylinder. It will run for 300+thousand miles even a built motor with 800+ HP. The audi in this vid was smoked by this nova when the audi had 800 hp and the n ova had 900 hp. How much i love german cars. i have too admit. this nova. eventhough its automatic (wich is mainly because of the high torque output by the nova) is very impressive and has a nice v8 sound!
