  • I can't believe how skinny Steve looks.

  • I said it once...... and I will say it again! Steve is BNL all day!!!!

  • @wirelessdave1 And I will say it again that is a matter of opinion!!!

  • I just saw Steven at a talk last night about mental illness and he sang a few songs here and there...I swear every time he sang I would get goosebumps...he is one of the greatest and most memorable singers ever imo!!

  • Everytime I see this I get chills.

It feels like Steve knew, at least, that this was it.

    heartbreaking.

  • this is the better voice

  • Rebuild!

  • I can't help but think that musically BNL is like the Beatles... 2 musical giants who ultimately parted ways. In this song, Ed's part even sounds Beatle-like. But I must say I think Steve Page is the most emotionally true and heartwrenching songwriter. Mc

  • I miss him dearly. BNL just isn't the same without him. Saw him last November in Michigan and he was awesome. Saw BNL in Toledo last spring for the first time since they had parted ways and they rocked, but it was definitely a different vibe without Steve there.

  • luv him n miss him...but look how f*cked up he is at this concert! its sad, n looking back at this , i get it.... this wasnt the guy i saw in cincert with bnl....love them to reunite sumday tho!

  • He sounds a little emotional and I don't know if it's because of the dedication or because he knows this is the end. So sad. I have loved BNL since 95 and have had a thing for Ed that whole time. But Steven Page is THE voice of BNL.

  • @obsessedwithdp Completely agree.

  • Very nice

  • lol germaine?

really like this recording of this song ¦-)

  • LOVE this song. But on this rendition he sings off key for most of the song.

  • There's going to be a problem when a person who used to be fat tries to get skinny and be the same person from before, Or they try to be something else and they're not that either. There was the feeling that Steve kind of resented Ed at times, being a charming classic front man/guitarist in looks and such, while Steve seemed to be there just because of his exceptional voice and his writing talent. Complicated. These guys have to know that they'll never be as good as when they were together.

  • I'm a huge Steven Page fan and this is a turd sandwich performance. Compare this to Ed Robertson's "For You" Bathroom sessions. Either Stevo is way emotional or he did a bunch of drugs before the show. Blah blah

  • anyhooo...

  • i miss the fat fuck

  • @xb5jb7 He's not fat, asshole.

  • the fat fugly mongoloid pedophile cokehead left his wife and 3 sons for a groupie he met on facebook. Ed is better off without this kike scumbag

  • God wiped his ass and Steven Page was created

  • fat slob junkie piece of crap........his ex wife won't let his junkie ass near their 3 sons

  • I just saw Barenaked Ladies on Saturday night in St. Louis...Steven who?

  • Is it just me or did Steven Page look like a lost little boy in this video? I wonder if he had a sense that this would be the last time he would perform with BNL? Someone below said that they should have changed the name of the band when he left because he co-founded it with Ed Robertson, but I think Tyler Stewart and Jim Creegan would have something to say about that since they were also founding members.

  • BNL is not dead...u definitely feel the loss of steven page whe nu c them in concert now, but they are all still very talented i ntheir own right(s)...as much as i miss him, at least there is still a bnl, so thanks ed, and the rest of the gang...ive seen them both with and without steven page...there is nothing worse than losing an entire bands music because of the loss ofthe lead singer...and as if u cant tell that hes wrecked at this concert anyway! i respect them for still continuing on...

  • @hollyraeraeful Who the fuck cares if he's wrecked? Why is there a war on drugs? Because they cut the governments income. People need to entertain themselves somehow, They can't do anything natural. We're pushed towards technology because our government does not understand that death is natural, and if a human wants to live fast and die fun, they should have that right... Not be held back because the people in charge can't make money off their hobbie. An example? Pot, Harmless. But illegal.

  • @MrBrandonBryson It's an illness, stupid. I agree with the tech stuff but think we should never, ever give up on the war against drug abuse. Obviously, you don't have a clue about addiction of any type. You sound like a good candidate for the live/die government panel which is probably coming.

  • @machfammama It's not an illness you idiot. I've done my fair share of drugs. And if anything it made me more aware of my surroundings...You learn to question reality. And how seriously fucked up our world is.

  • BNL IS DEAD..........LONG LIVE STEVEN PAGE

  • @GODUCKGO This may be true But Ed has the right to keep what he loves going. It isn't about Steve anymore.

  • For the first time ever I was angry at Ed... Steve pour his heart into this. I miss their connection On stage soo much...

  • One person is a heartless bastard!

  • there is BNL without page

  • Ive always said to anyone that Steven Page is the only singer I know of that sounds better live than he does on a CD, he just sings with so much emotion in his voice, watching this vidio just about broke my heart, he was clearly at rock bottom and needed his bandmates to be there for him, not toss him aside because it ruined their image. BNL will never be the same without Steve,

  • @chaser1000 MY daughter I know how special you have always felt Steven Page is.....and the talent he has is very obvious.....is sad to see how life can sometimes knock us to our knees....but there is always tomorrow to REBUILD.....see the emotion he felt while singing this....we are witnessing a life transformation right now as he is singing this.....AMAZING.....God bless you Steven....

  • @chaser1000 you realize that it was mutual and he had wanted to do a solo project long before, watch his interview with QTV and you can hear the whole story

  • Do you think if Steven called Ed now he'd answer? It sounds like Steven got pushed out of the band he co-founded because he was arrested (though charges were later dropped) & he felt he was being shoved to the side musically. I don't think the other members should have kept the BNL name - that was Steve & Ed. Just my opinion. I love love love this song though.

  • Look at the the 2:54 time on this video. Thoughts???

  • @mrszero1000 He picked his nose, and?...

  • I had the pleasure of attending a solo performance he did. One of the best nights I ever had. Not to spam this video but I posted some of it on my YouTube page.

  • It looks soooo powerful to me at the end! I will miss you forever Steven Page! I remember going to my first concert, which was yours, when I was 9. I lovee you Steven!

  • This song is such a moving performance by Steven. The last few mins get to me and give me chills he's putting so much into it you can see him emotionally stripped in those few mins :/ BNL just arent the same :(

  • AMAZING SONG...GIVES ME THE CHILLS!!! Such simple lyrics but so effective and beautifully written!!!

  • how do we know he was high on coke for this performance?

ive worked on a cruise ship

its not easy to do drugs onboard

    TRUST me

during this epriod of his life im sure he was usuing but so what

    hes a consomate performer regardless

sucks they split but enough with the over analysing and judging

    it is what it is

  • I just cannot believe that this is the end of this band.

  • @thehappyhippie That wasn't the end of the band. They still make music, but Steven just isn't in it anymore. Ed took up lead. They're still just as good as they used to be, but in a different way.

  • </3

    :(

  • just heard this for the first time... love it..nice one

  • the coke has a big hold of him at this point......sad!

    rip steve

  • @nafeezkhan1 He's not dead. He just started up a solo career and is clean...

  • Is it just me or does it seem like he's singing this to the rest of the band? He must have known it was the end.

He has hinted on a few occasions that the split was not ''mutual" as was the official BNL statement.

    This guy is sublime!

  • This is a pretty weak vocal performance by page, his voice sounds really strained

  • @clarke452 Just speculating, but I think he may just feel real emotional considering he left the band after this concert............hence the strained voice.

  • @clarke452 It was on their Cruise and they always do a lot of singing on those cruises that they do. If you listen to all of the other songs from that set, you can hear that the rest of the band's voices are strained too.

  • I hate them now without steve.they are pompass ego brats now.

ed,ur a trader! kevin,do me a fave and don't sing cos you cant! the drummer is ed's new side kick.he's a retart bitch! the rest of the band can do my 9 inch!

  • @inmylife10465 Frankly, I've seen Steven's solo stuff and he comes across as a bit pretentious too. Steve and Ed are probably at this point just trying to pump out good music, because they're on shaky ground at the moment. They shouldn't be afraid to be a bit silly with their music though, that's a big part of their images.

  • awesome! sorry Steven left.

  • this video gave me slight chills, I mean just knowing this was his last one with bnl.

Also I was one of the people who was gonna see bnl in orlando for the first time and expecting Steve, and then reading that he left the band. I was like '.........!!!!! D:

  • Call me a mother but I honestly wouldn't care so much if Ed left

  • @televisewhatyouwant Then you're not a real BNL fan.

  • Sometimes you meet a song or a band that plays the music you heard in your soul before iPods took it over. This was that band. Growing up I didn't get other music and it didn't get me. High School's long gone, yet BNL still worms its way in. For those of us that love this music, there will never be another.

Thank God for these naked ladies. They are the true phonographers.

everything that has a beginning... sometimes it's time to move on.

  • love that video ! came out soo good

  • It just is not the same without Steve....Saw the show in Boston last night...the complex side is gone.

  • i miss Steven. :(

  • You can definitely tell this is his last song with BNL. His first single from his upcoming solo album comes out tomorrow!

  • its kind of sad... everyone makes mistakes.......... after hes clean and sober expect probably some reunion tour.......... be strong steve its no BNL with out you..

  • WTF!! Why did these boys have to part? So amazing together!

  • Utterly classic. It sucks now, but it was all to end sometime, and what they had was beautiful.

  • Thank you for posting- this is so bittersweet to watch. Ed and Steve playing together really brought the magic to BNL during their shows. It's a beautiful performance but so very sad.

  • with out steve i just cant get backto lisening to this group

  • he looks so snazzy....and hot ;) btw....love this song. so sad he left :(

  • he looks so young....and hot ;) btw....love this song. so sad he left :(

  • he looks so young....and hot ;) btw....love this song. so sad he left :(

  • he looks so young....and hot ;)

  • He looks so sad at the end of the performance. Almost like he knew it was his last show

  • Surprisingly good quality. Was the audio recorded from a console?

  • I LOVE THIS SONG. i'm so sad that he left.. he has an amzing voice, probably one of the best I've ever heard

But trust me, I will be front row for that reunion tour :)

  • nice upload of call and answer vid...

  • I just saw Steven Page and The Art of Time Ensemble. Lots of fun. Really enjoyed him singing Paranoid Android and Tonight We Fly.

Got the CD from the concert and his other CD called "The Vanity Project." :) Am enjoying listening to it now. Can search for the 2nd track on the disc

The Vanity Project (Steven Page) - Wilted Rose

  • I miss him. Please make something new and great Steven!!!

  • its is weird BNL with no Steve but i think the band will proser! just look at you run away and 4seconds two very very good songs!!!

  • Nothing against the other guys, and Ed Robertson, but 95% of my favourite BNL songs are Steven Page songs. I can't see the band being worth listening to without him. I don't know the full story on his departure other than it came after his coke problems went public. I hope they didn't kick him out, cuz look at how many musicians have coke problems. No one cares as long as they keep making good music.

  • He looks very handsome in this video. The suit looks great.

  • I'd say Steve went out with a bang. Amazing vocal performance on a great song.

  • Was it already announced that he was leaving before the concert? Did the audience know this would be his last?

  • It was announced almost three weeks after this performance. I'm glad I didn't know yet.

  • @kevindcampbell that was a good idea. otherwise, it would of been "Steve Page's Final BNL Concert".

  • @CardinalsFan8806 It wasn't announced, but a bunch of people on the cruise suspected. The vibe was weird.

Still came as a shock, but not a surprise... if that makes any sense.

  • definitely 1 of my faverite songs!:) very nice melody..:)

  • rebuild......rebuild....

  • Wow, My heart literally stopped for a moment while watching this. Rest in peace, Skates. This was heart wrenching and beautiful, Steven, you are as amazing as ever.

  • aww ;__;

i got to see them once in concert SO FAR but it was after Steve quit =(

It was a blast and i DEFINATELY want to go again but i still think something was missing without steve's fabulous talent!!

  • If you look up steven page in the dictionary...

  • this performance is so amazing! i am such a huge bnl fan however, i love steven page!

  • Stunning vocal performance. Steven is one of the most gifted vocalists this generation has seen. In a band with less of a reputation for their kooky songs, he'd be known as a master. There's no such thing as replacing a Steven Page. Ed is very good and a superb acoustic guitarist, but that's not the point. Bands like this are magical and pieces can't be removed without terrible loss. I went from thinking "If I had a Million Dollars" was cute, to this band is out of this world.

  • @SterlingRe stunning is right.. moreso is the fact he is high on coke at this very moment.. love the band to the bone.. had the opportunity to see them over dozen times and party with em on many occasions. . miss him.. but he will return.. BNL foreve

  • Love this song!

  • Oh rats! I just found out that Steven has left the BNL!

Darn. Another band down (sorry, it is just not the same without Steven) that I would have given a lot to see live one day.

Well, I guess for everyone there comes a point in life when one is done looking and needs to sail off to new shores.

However, good luck to Steven and the BNL. Maybe they still can work together once in a while.

  • I agree... It breaks your heart in so many levels.

  • Boy, this is the saddest vid ever.

  • 2:36-2:40 -- Steven knowing it is sad.

  • kevindcampbell is the audio off of the mixer? it sounds really good.

    thanx for this.

  • I prefer Steve doing this song solo. His acoustic version at Boarders is great. I'll never dig BNL with out Steven Page.

  • So sad. I don't know why Steve got involved with this gal from upstate NY and got into cocaine - it would have completely ruined his voice if he did not stop.

And yes, Steve once wrote "I belong to the Prozac nation."

  • That would be "I believe in the Prozac nation."

  • Thank you for the correction! : )

Wow-it has been a long time since I listened to a BNL CD.

I hope Mr. Page is doing well these days.

  • no steve :(

he's so sad... you can see it in his eyes and hear it in his voice, he shouldn't leave... him and ed are best friends, it's not worth it just for your name to be bigger, i want steve to stay... :(

  • I remember seeing them live in 94. This is probably one of the better songs that they have released since their Gordon album. First Andy goes... then Steve. The band will not be the same.

  • Cocaine is a hell of a drug

  • He really lost a lot of weight...

  • That man is amazing. If I could have to choice to be anyone but myself I would choose to be him. He is pretty much the only celebrity who can instill so much emotion in me. I hate him for leaving them, but watching this helped me to see that it must have been really hard for him. T.T

I love this song, and it was a really good choice for the situation.

    Please come back Steve Page.

  • Really? If you could be anybody but yourself you'd want to be a cokehead?

  • I'd be an amazing singer who knows how to express what he feels in creative and unique ways. I admit, he has soiled his reputation some, but he went twenty years before doing so. He has faught depression all that time, and done much better in the battle than a lot of celebrities, and I respect him for that.

  • Dude...That's not cool. Are you really a "phan"? 'cause no phishhead I know would say something like that. You wouldn't want to be Trey?...Who is an addict himself.

  • This was exceedingly hard to watch and you did an awesome job with the video. Is is just me or was Steve trying to motion over to Ed to join him right next to him? One of my all time favorite songs.

  • The motioning was for the technicians to turn up the guitar in his monitors. But right before that, he looked at Ed for a very long time conveying what I'm sure was the same emotion. Excellent video.

  • So bittersweet! Ed will call, Steve will answer...Let us hope.

  • @mjbab73 And let us hope that the answer is "No!"

  • @klynb Your a jerk. period....

  • @Edchick28 Only when it comes to Ed Robertson. May he find peace and another career that keeps him out of the public eye.

  • @klynb That's a really harsh thing to say. Ed is a good person. No matter what you think.

  • amazing song. I don't know what's going to happen to this band, but whatever does, they can never say that they didn't write beautiful, cleaver, funny, passionate music.

  • why did he leave the band any way? is it because of his drug problem he had? if thats why thats a dumb reason i always loved this band

  • They just needed to go their separate ways. I imagine the demand to create popular music grows old after 20 years.

  • :( Amazing. Wish he wasn't leaving.

  • It'll never be the same...

  • he looked so sad singing it

  • Luv this song!

  • Absolutely amazing and beautiful. Thank you for capturing it.

  • Thank you for taking such amazing video!

  • so sad.. he fights those tears back....This was really hard to watch

  • I'm glad I was at that show..thanx for recording the final moment!

  • I'm gonna miss this man. I thought I was fine after going to the universal show, but these videos are making it so hard. *sigh*

  • i'm crying as i watch this... it's so hard to watch.

  • It is very sad to watch. For all the years I have watched this band grow up they have always been high energy. Its almost like singing at a funeral :( Such a shame these things happen.

  • but almost too sad to watch.

  • I love your intro. Very cool.
