Yes,I remember this song too.'' X'ahna sbieh min jaf jarana''...'' Look how nice we are ''....That's because we are nice:)).Thank you for sharing this beautiful memory.
@97641282 ....I was wondering if you can remember the song.....I think it was called '' F'xatt il- bahar int hu jien'' It was very, very popular in Malta in the 70's.It was recorded by a female, but I could never remember her name.I'm so desparate to get it.
@beadsstitcher .That song you mentioned is called { Maltin f 'xatt il bahar}.Sang by Carmen Schembri ,Enzo's wife. I got the mp3 of it ,if you want me to send it to you drop me a line on { johndemicoli@gmail.com } and I'll be happy to forward it to you,it's just over 3 Mb.
This was a very interesting historical background of the preservation of folk music in Malta. I can see where it would help the Maltese appreciate their musical heritage and aid in self identity. The graphics showing old customs and costumes were very informative. Thank you for this bit of history Alfred.
@ShirleyJean1000 Thanks Shilrey. This is one of many that used to be played a lot when I was a kid. I'm sure many Maltese would appreciated hearing it again. Andrew Alamango collected some very old Maltese songs and had them cleaned and reproduced exceptionally well. His work was extensively praised on local media.
How to translate "X'ahna sbieh min jaf jarana"? - "Look how nice we are" - humoristic bragging.
I love this one too very nice video you very clever alfred & Jasmine ...I have a go on this one too.
