Thanks for posting this vid. Never realized how much I was under powering my speakers til I watched this video. I can't even see the cone move with my enter lvl avr. Not that it doesn't sound good though.
Anyways I ended up purchasing a Harman Kardon 3490 stereo receiver. Can't wait to try it out.
What receiver are you running? They arnt very sensitive, im currently powering them with a Parasound HCA-855a with the Azur as the pre and liking how they sound with more power (the Parasound is 85wpc, but totally whipped a high-end denon (AVR-5700) that was rated at 140wpc. I would go with the ELT towers for home theater, unless you have a smaller room, because the towers are rated at 87dB compared to the bookshelfs at 83dB.
Although they aren't very sensitive, how big is your room, and how loud do you listen to stuff? If you're in a small room (~ 14ft x 14ft), you'll only need about 15wpc to get it to a comfortable listening level. I'm planning on powering mine with a Harman Kardon AVR-154, which is 30wpc. (my room is about 16ft x 14ft)
Yeah, that's what makes the Audioengines seem appealing to me. I really love the wood on the ELT525Ms though... and to get the Audioengines in wood adds an extra $100 :(
Decision, decisions... lol
P.S. -- I was surprised to actually find a video when I searched "elt525" on youtube.... I guess it's my lucky day, considering you just uploaded this. Looks like you're the only one also! ;)

I'm considering these 525's right now. Will a regular home theater receiver power them ok?

I'm debating between these and the Audioengine 5's.

Well, I heard nothing but great things about the Audioengine's, They would be a solid choice!
About the only thing you need to consider is this, the Audioengines have a built in amp, where as you need an amp for these little suckers.
All I can say is that you cant go wrong with either!
