hey i have one of those but i dont know how to use it. i have a 4 wire ribbon strip coming out of the curcuitboard, i would guess that these are 2 for power, and 2 for control. if you could help with this it would be great(not to have to spend as much on an oscilloscope that is)
two wires are for the power, of course. One of the other is for the video signal. The best way to find out which one are for power is to measure the voltage while the camera is on. Power should be about 5V. The video signal is difficult to find without oscilloscope. If you use a voltmeter it should be 1 to 2 V. Ground is mostly easy to find by a close look at the view finder board.
Be carefull with touching the board while it is powered. There is a high voltage part (500V)!
thats awesome. now can you feed a standard composite video signal into this thing and have it show on the tiny screen or do you need some other circuits?
Sorry for the late answer. I don't have any Schematic, but if you're interessted in CRT techniques, then I can suggest you the Philips EE2007 experimental kit. There are schematics for oscilloscope tubes.
There are no kits, but you could buy an old Hi8 Videocamera and remove the hole viewfinder. This is all what you need.
So when can we expect to see the pocket sized ociliscope? I love it. It looks to be the beginnings of a tricorder. Keep up the good work. Hope things are well with you and yours.
What power source does this take? Also, How many pins is the connector? I have one myself, but only the viewfinder, and I don't know which pins do what, its only got 4. It's from an RCA camcorder.
One of the coolest things I have ever seen, the image is so crisp

how did you find the pin volts?

I have tried to get video from 2 different viewfinders, fried them both. Its a tricky thing to get working (IMHO).

The video was cool until you put that shitty music.

Das ist eine gute Frage, ich weiß es nicht, da ich die Elektronik vom Sucher der Kamera verwendet habe.

Hallo! Tolles Video
Eine Frage habe ich:
Welche Heizspannung braucht die Röhre?

2 would be power +-. The others would be the video and video ground. You have to experiment.

Any more info? I have a half inch CRT like these and I'd like to make a driver circuit for it, so I can hook to up to a video signal.

Funny... but can you show a fart on it too? :op
