@set2light Peter Green obviously thought Gary was good, thats why he gave him the guitar in the first place, so your comment about he dares to use Greens guitar is rubbish, why the hell do you think he gave it to him, to sit an look at it...
why cant we have music like this in the charts rather than mass produced wank like rhianna and kanye west who all sound the fucking same and cant play one instrument between them!!!! God if you are ever gonna intervene with this world do it to save the music!! and maybe some poor people if u got time. thanks.
ANYONE CAN GO ON GOOGLE AND FIND LOADS LIKE THIS ( just put in gary moore sude in german court ) A German court has ordered former Thin Lizzy guitarist Gary Moore to pay damages after ruling the guitar solo in his 1990 hit "Still Got the Blues" had been plagiarized from a German song written in 1974.
A court in the southern city of Munich said on Wednesday the solo in Moore's song was too similar
This much can definitively said: There will always be but one Peter Green and there will also only be but one Gary Moore. That should be enough to satisfy anyone...
I still think Peter Green's version(s) are better (he did about 3 or 4) - singing and guitar playing. His version blows my mind, and I love Gary Moore's guitar playing. This is probably the most famous guitar in history too. Quite fittng to go from one guitar god to another.
I am not a troll, as I believe the words I speak. Insulting a musician on his own video is rather trollish, but you Moore fans seem to be so far up the mans ass you can't see past mother fucking shit.
This man was a TERRIBLE singer, a mediocre guitarist, and an average musician. Only god knows why Greeny let Moore have that amazing guitar.
@Carthsgtr I've met the man twice and seen him play live. Upon meeting him, I thought he was a nice guy, he signed my guitar magazine and talked to me for a bit. Personally I love his voice, I also think his guitar playing is expert and he has written some great lyrics too. It's cool you have opinions of your own and your own taste. I suggest that if you don't like Gary Moore, I wouldn't watch any youtube videos with him in it, otherwise you might annoy yourself. Have a nice day.
@sportsportsport People like Carthsgtr are so annoying. If they don't like Gary Moore, they should leave and not comment on the video. It's disrespectful and it shows their stupidity. I love how you told him to "have a nice day". Nice touch.
@metalliczombie Heh! thanks man! you're right too! they should just leave. I understand someone leaving a negative comment on a justin beiber video, but Gary Moore? come on! he's part of the talented bunch.
In all honesty, I can acknowledge the fact that the man was a brilliant guitarist, but I really hate his voice and the horrible "80s" sound of the layering and synth. It really kills the feel of a song like this.
@Carthsgtr To each his own! Well I do agree about the 80's. They all did it, for fame or money, but they forgot about their craft. I’m a huge Clapton fan, but when he teamed up with Phil Collins in the 80's he took on the sound of Genesis. Very well done but it was not Clapton’s style. If the blues have influenced them, then they should nurture that craft. But they all seem to go commercial sooner or later. Cheers!
Love Gary, but I don't understand why he does that? His live solos are note for note all the same, you have a full canvas to paint over and you paint the same picture everytime. Just weird to me that he does that, too talented and passionate to be copying his own notes.
I have to agree with you that his bends and vibratos are amazing... Altogether he feels the blues. I hope he's going to play the Les Paul on tommorow concert! Can't wait to see it!
Some day, this guy will be recognised as a true master of taste/tone/feel, just love all his albums, from early rock to present day! , playing a Strat/Charvel or Les Paul, celtic rock or soulful blues, just Brilliant!!.
@sportsportsport ,yep, really hope he does get the respect he's due, a true master of the guitar! imho... btw~ nice fluid playing on the two princes solo!

He is good, no doubt, but definitely not the best! AND he should give back Peter Green his guitar (notice reversed neck humbucker). You can hear GreenGod's signature "out of phase" sound at 4.21. Green knows that music is not about sold discs and popularity but soul and feelings and that can be heard in his performances!
similar to jimi hendrix and stevie ray vaughan comparisons you have the originators and the innovators some started others improved you cant compare em because they all have their pluses and minuses but they are all great
There are several Peter Green versions of this song available. It isn't posted on YouTube, but I suggest if you can to locate JaS from " Fleetwood Mac Live in Boston Vol. 3". That version has bite, intensity, and a brilliant use of dynamics. It crushes any other Green version that's out there.
that is the real peter green guitar! I can tell it because of the reversed pickup on neck and the out of phase sound from 2:47 (the two pickups together sounds very thin) and looks just like the peter's one....anyhow please everybody, learn to really love peter green and shure you will can play like gary, but there is no way on earth to play like peter...(and sing)
Just listen to the "antiphase" guitarsound Gary Moore is imitating, combine with the sweet sound of the neck element and the licks he is using, all of that is Peter Green stuff. I respect Gary Moore's fine guitar playing but he would admit Peter Green is someone he is looking up to and would be his tutor for blues
i don't like much gary but this is the best blues song 4 me he has recorded. Great job and i think is better than the green's original. just an opinion. of course i like far more peter as a musician and bluesman

Love Gary, and his Peter Green covers are usually brilliant, but this just isn't very good... just a weak version of Need Your Love So Bad. Much prefer the original!
i'll be honest, Gary's singing has never made me sit up and take notice, but this is a really exposed track and it's obviously live, so Gary - nice vocals mate! Wish he'd play this less-is-more stuff more often - it's gorgeous!

In my honest opinion, it is an insult to compare Gary Moore to Peter Green.
Sure Gary Moore can play the guitar and sing fairly well. That's it.
Peter Green was simply sublime and innovative.

68blues 3 years ago
68blues, ive been thinking about you guys comments.
Im not argue about whos best, but I compare this vid also a few times with
PG's posted by andria260807and GM's interpretation is more polished
(listen to the smooth keyboard) and the band is just a backingband, whilst
PG and the band are playing together, with more dynamic and so is PG's solo.
I know its a matter of taste, but im in favour of Greeny. GM is a fantastic
player and im a great fan, but imo he doesnt own this song.
vanu49 3 years ago 3
vanu49...well i actually got into an argument with myself over this one.
I've been a PG fan since the late 60's and as for GM i've never been his biggest fan but i would never knock him.
Although PG has the far superior voice, i gave this to GM on his excellent tone.
Trust me i didn't want to give this to Moore, and it is a fine comment you've posted but i have to stick to my original comment..
.reluctantly.
As i said in an earlier post the video really compliments the song. Cheers.
