i find it funny how many people are like if you listen t this band and this band you suck cause they suck and blah blah blah. maby those people dont want to listen to the same sound over and over and over again cause i can gaurantee no two metal bands sound the same. the bands i listen to are BFMV, Slipknot, A7X, Death, Iced Earth, Metallica (even though they are extremely overated), Slayer, Asking Alexandria, Miss May I and many more but im almost to the character limit.

Sure I don't really care for those bands and I could think of a time where I really liked avenged sevenfold and all these mainstream bands. But now I listen to stuff like Death, Atheist, COB, and Slayer. They'll grow out of it eventually.

@AdmiralGFM ive listened to dimmu borgir before, eh, not really my thing. i enjoy writing black metal type stuff, just the lyrics bother me and the tone is too trebley for me. which is why i like death metal. nice and bassy and thick sounding guitars. i also like old and new school thrash for some good mid range type stuff

I like death metal because of the aggression of the music, which helps me calm down from pissed-off moods. Cannibal Corpse is the best at doing this for me.

On another note, the only reason terms like "real metal" or "true metal" exist, is to differentiate between bands like(death, carcass, nile, necrophagist, emperor) and bands like (slipknot, bullet for my valentine, and korn)

Quick history lesson - Chuck Schuldiner is also known as "The Father of Death Metal". He was ranked No. 10 in Joel Mclver's book The 100 Greatest Metal Guitarists in 2009. His vocal style is an influence to many death metal bands. BFMV didn't put out an album until 2005 - 4 years after Chuck's death.
