  • I had to buy the MP3!!

  • cocaine's a hell of a drug.

  • HATE it when people film their televisions.

  • I hate it when people can't distinguish between early video recording technology and filming a TV.

  • Leonard Nimoy is such a sex symbol in this video that he's turning me gay. I am so surprised that he didn't become as big as the Beatles.

  • Is that Ricky Nelson doing the intro?

  • Wow, I am stuck on this song now. I've replayed it at least 5 times... gotta love Leonard Nimoy.

  • wut the hel

  • Wow.

  • ....

    ........i'm in shock.

  • yeah!!! .. i can dig it man!! hobbitts are like hobbitts man... but only smaller than humans!!

  • Who needs the likes of losers like Van Halen, Pete Townshend and Keith Richards when you get a bassoon solo!!!!!

  • So, it was basically a commercial for those giant-ass buttons?

  • BASSOON SOLO FTW.

  • the button that Mr.Nimoy puts on at the end says, " What's a Leonard Nimoy?"

  • LOL, I own this LP. Never seen the vid, THANK YOU. Honestly, thank you, this is a hoot and a half.

  • @CatalinaThePirate Someone put out an album with this on???? Begs the question, why?

  • @matak99 The recording originally appeared on Two Sides of Leonard Nimoy album on the Dot label. One side had stuff like "Spock Thoughts" and the other was pure Leonard. :) Thoroughly enjoyable album, even as rough as this song is, it has its charm. LOL! I love the guy...

  • I bet Leonard did all of those girls... xD

  • Ah! An off-handed remark in the intro solved the mystery of this clip's origin! It's "Malibu U." a 1967 summer replacement series on ABC. Ricky Nelson is seen at the intro as the "Dean" of Malibu U., and the theme was composed by the Addrisi Brothers. This episode aired July 28, 1967, and also featured to song stylings of Mrs Miller! A bad music perfecta! And one of those dancers may have been Erin Grey, later of "Buck Rogers!"

  • A Break Beat to be sampled.

  • Frodo LIVES

  • Be scared, very scared!!!!!!!!!!!! This kind of output is not big and not clever lol

  • Rockin'!

  • It's like a traffic accident, you don't want to look but you have to and then you can't turn away. I am in shock!

  • For everyone who says its bad...i think its supposed to be..i mean who could actually think this was seriously meant to be a good song? Its like a parody, sort of.

  • More like "Dilldo Gaggins"!

Just think, That hot brown haired girl is now an old woman ! ...Shit !

  • don't think any of them are hot.

  • lmao he puts a sticker saying whats a leonard nimoy?

  • Leonard Nimoy in great new bio (All About Jeffrey Hunter) at amazon! Michelle Bernier is author!

  • Nimoy in the sky with diamonds.

  • I wonder why the color version was cut. I like to see the FunnyButtons up close, and I like the beginning.

  • To quote Mr Spock himself: "Could be some form of space madness we've never seen before."

  • nice

  • @Bartman954

I never knew this song existed , it must be quite some time , as Nimoy was at his height of popularity - Star Trek . When Lord Of the Rings was a hit , I bought a set of J.RR. Tolken 's book, one of the books , was The Hobbit , that was in 2006. This is a real surprise. Malaysian Insider

  • if peter jackson and guellmo del toro put this in a a joke at the end of the hobbit movie i will laugh my ass off and die

  • I would have loved to see Leonard Nimoy Vulcan Death Grip, that fella at the beginning then walk away with the girl lol

  • What Is A Leonard Nimoy?

  • does anyone else think that the girl at the beginning of the video with the fella is quite cute when she smiles??

  • Dude.

    Full. acid.

  • Why? This song is amazing if a girl can't love this song then her loss.

  • I love this song! You can groove to it, in a care-free, get-downey, sort of a way. ;-)

  • And why not? If she has the right reaction, she's a geek and a keeper ;)

    I love this.

  • My boyfriend banished me from his room for a week (it lasted a day though) because I squeed so hard to this vid. Lol!

  • The girl with the short brown hair at the beginning of this video is a very young Erin Gray (who would later go on to play Col. Wilma Deering in the 1979-1980 Buck Rogers in the 25th Century TV series.

  • I think "There's a big fag called "Funnybuns" is better lyric!

  • I wonder why this was filmed of a Sony Trinitron colour TV set with a video camera. Wouldn't it have been easier to connect the computer directly to the VTR?

  • Agreed

  • it would if the show had not been on tv in the 60's

  • This was clearly filmed off a TV-set with a CCD based video camera. CCDs were invented in the mid 1970s and only became availiable to the general public in the mid 1980s. And then everybody who had a video camera also had a VCR or at least a VTR. This is clearly a fake. Someone played it off tape on his TV and filmed it off again.

  • and this is a television show called malibu u on the air in the mid 60's like it said at the beginning of the video

  • Filmed with a CCD or not, it had more information and beter clarity than many of the color versions i've seen.

it did, however, cut of the surrounding parts of the image.

  • he is so good looooken still!

  • I wish I was puffin on my pipe in my hobbit hole...

  • at the beggining did he say "Haven't you heard, theres a big fag called 'FunnyBuns'"???

  • "There's a big fad called Funny Buttons."

  • oh lol.

  • This song will get stuck in your head...guaranteed.

  • The video must be in color, right?

  • This video made my WTF video of the day lol

  • ER... I think I am scarred.

  • year?

  • this is freakin' me out.....

  • this needs to be on VH1's top greatest songs!

  • haha it does sound wierd

  • 01:30 do i hear Excorcist?

  • Just the fact that there is an "uncut" version of this is fucking hilarious to me

  • that wasd. I have never heard of this song before

  • Seeing this in black-and-white makes it even more surreal----Nimoy's face upside down right in the camera has a demonic "Twilight-Zonish" look. Rod Serling would have been....well, not proud, but he would have chuckled.

  • Hippie Elf Chicks

  • hot eh?

  • or, are they Vulcans?

  • well i say that just because his singing about LOTR

  • Leonard is actually a very brilliant mind ... oh, and some of those 60's chicks were pretty hot!!

  • Leonard was a pimp!

  • You realise what he said was "The Elf kings halls", right? It's just a little harder to understand because it's longer, I don't think they could have gotten away with putting something such as what you said in a 1960s song about classic literature

  • hot video

  • You don't hear many bassoon solos anymore.

  • lol i played the bassoon in high school band, that thing kicked ass

  • @dragynslare

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Brilliant.

  • @dragynslare probably because of this song.

  • fuck, that is so groundbreaking that time

  • Ghaaahhh!

  • This is the single greatest thing i have ever seen or heard. Bar nothing! I believe he released 5 albums dont suppose anybody knows where i can aquire any of them?

  • Try ebay.

  • The guy who introduces Leonard Nimoy I believe is Ricky Nelson

  • truly a masterpiece

  • Hahaha, Leonard Nimoy is awesome XD

  • I can see where Beyonce stole her moves.. Those girls can boogie!

  • Wow.... I'm speechless. And confused. Why is Leonard Nimoy singing about Bilbo Baggins and why do the dancers have pointy ears? Why aren't music videos like this any more, I would watch a lot more MTV if they were.

  • i think the ears were because they were a nod to either Leonard Nimoy's pointy-eared role as Dr. Spock or the elves in the Lord of the Rings books.

  • they were hobbit ears, nearly twice as large as elvish ears

  • *Mr.* Spock, because Dr. Benjamin Spock was another man entirely.

But yes, quite possibly both, actually.

  • Spock was a vulcan and a vegetarian. Dr. Benjamin Spock advocates a vegan diet.

    Both are cool.

Not as cool as the hotties in this video.

  • they can make music videos like that, but they still wouldn't play it on mtv. i mean, when was the last time they actually played a video? lol

  • At the beginning of the video, I think the young woman (next to the announcer) is Erin Gray (of Buck Rogers & Silver Spoons fame).

  • Michelle66, That is indeed Erin Gray as recently confirmed to me (and others) by Erin. The TV program was Malibu U starring Ricky Nelson (Ozzie & Harriet). RIcky was a singing sensation at that time.

  • nimoy: one smooth ladies man

  • What's a Leonard Nimoy ?

  • Spock.

  • Uh, he's Mr. Spock from the Original Star Trek Series

  • mintin tune!

  • holy fuck!

  • The scene with Nimoy and that blond teenager(?) is kinda creepy...but then the whole video is a tad weird.

  • Thanks! Never saw the whole thing.

  • what a bunch of American chicks!

  • Well, that was....different! I wonder when it was filmed?

  • It had to have been the sixties...

  • Is a guy who is right the prfesor???

  • Thank you, Professor.

  • Haha, you're a homo.

  • This (great?) song has been stuck in my head for almost a week now. :)

I found a page on the MaidenWine site (look under 'Catalog') that gives a little more info on the video as well the program it was shown on.... pretty interesting stuff.

  • =S I mean.. WOW =D

  • Man, this song is so odd. I wonder what possessed him to sing this. o___o xDDD

  • What possesed Nemoy to sing AT ALL? (sorry Mr.Spock, but it's true)

  • Bilbo wasn't the only one puffin' on a pipe.

  • I lol'd at this comment.

  • "You're love of the halfling's leaf has dulled your senses" :Saruman - 'The Fellowship Of The Rings"

  • I can dig it.

Betcha' Leonard did one or two of those dancers too.

  • This is a TREASURE.

  • this song never leaves your head

  • HAHAHAHAHA sweet mother of jesus this is funny.

  • He is really good looking. I just love him! and his singing voice.

  • Me too!

  • If I knew how to do a "Vulcan Nerve Pinch" I'd get all the girls too !

  • Too bad it's not in color... Great, though.

  • It actually was filmed in color (there's some of the color clips on youtube as well)..Im guessing this B&W clip was from some music show of the time, like "Shindig", etc.

  • haha wtf!!!

  • oohh i love it ^_^ leonard nimoy is the bessssst

  • classic! leonard nimoy is just too cool!

  • This is great, too bad the other videos want to cut out segments this full version is the best

  • Very nice...been waiting for this ;)

  • Haha! Man that was great I havn't seen that in a long, long time. Not coming to Chicago for a visit soon would be highly... illogical.
