This is Skylink at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. This automated, bi-directional system opened in Spring 2005 and connects all five terminals. Trains run every two minutes and travel at speeds up to 35–37 mph (56–60 km/h) The biggest improvement over the old system is that the concrete bed is heated in the winter with an internal system when needed to prevent freezing. For more info., check out Wikipedia's entry on this.
Suecotube, no! I just figured out, not in all cases. If you get out at the proper gate and need to make a connection, then you just keep walking and don't need to take the train.
i'm connecting in Dallas in less than 2 weeks, first connection i've ever had alone. is it easy to get around using the skylink? could someone give a step by step process of how you do things? hahaha, i'm nervous. i've been to DFW 7 times, but never for a connection alone.
Yes it is very easy to get around on the skylink. I was in Dallas a few weeks ago and it was fairly easy to get around the airport... The skylink takes you to all the terminals
The only reason you built a tram is because you built an airport that is 3 times larger than what your hick town needs. Most your airport is just shut down..."I know, lets build it reallll big". Dumb hicks.
I wasn't talking about the city of Dallas, I was actually talking about the airport. Like you, I was there on a connection. I have never been to the city of Dallas.
nah, but there was a similar, but much less extensive tram system. That was always the knock on DFW. Well designed for flying out of or landing, but connecting terminal to terminal was a hike.
@jack9547 For the old people mover system, the boarding platforms in each terminal were accessed by going down one flight of stairs from where the gates where located. But once it left the terminal, the track was at ground level, outdoors. So it would be a stretch to have called it a subway. For more information on the old system, go to Wikipedia and do a search for "Airtrans APM."
I had a connection at DFW going from Seattle to Orlando some 18 months ago. My parents had gone through DFW quite some time ago and it was a really significant improvement on the older system.
I haven't had the oppertunity to ride the train in Dallas yet, as we live only about 5 hours from it, so we usually drive. But do you know if anyone has a video of the old TrAAin? I'd like to see it. It was there last time I was there.
Very smooth!

Excuse me, once you get to Dallas Airport and need to make a connection, do you take a shuttle bus? In all cases?

I had a connecting flight in DFW when I went from New York to Phoenix. I noticed that Dallas Fort Worth Airport runway has a track runway.

@david33mtrb do you know where we might find a video of the "trAAin"?
chrisz71 1 year ago
@chrisz71 put "Airtrans APM" into the You Tube seach engine. There's a 9:12 minute video of the old system recorded in 1998.
