  • Thank you for this wonderful rendition of the Moszkowski etude. It realy helps me, because I'm learning it now! You really inspired me! Thank you!

  • Wow! For an eleven year old he plays with a lot of feeling.

  • According to Malcolm Gladwell's 10000 hr rule, once a musician is sufficiently talented the difference between success and failure is who practices more.

    Practiced 4 hours a day x 5 days = 20 hours + 6 hours x 2 days (sat and sunday) = 12 hours. 20 + 12 = 32 hours a week x 52 weeks/year = 1664 hours a year.

Age 4 (half a year) he practiced 832 hours,

Age 5-10 = 1664 hours x 6 years = 9984 hours, which means by age 10 he would have blown past the 10,000 hours needed for proficiency ...

  • He has very nice fingering style. Great job!!!

  • Fantastic job George. I love it! Thanks for posting. maurice

  • verygood, thank youGEORGE, be blessed by yr guardian Angel*** good, congratulations,!!!

  • OMG, 3-4 hours on weekdays and 7 hours on weekends, you are so hard working, Goerge. best wishes to you! ^_^

  • Great!!!!!

  • He's the master =)

  • Hi . Is this the child from School Of Rock ?

  • Whos this?

  • damn. my parents were watching over my shoulder and shaking their heads, while making crass comments about how i'm 14 and i will never be a tenth as good as this kid ==

  • How much homework could an 11 year old have? :P

  • SO MUCH HOMEWORK?!?!?! AS IF................

  • Very good George! You're awesome!

Marthav: "Was he a student of Chopin or...?"

    WHAT?!!

  • Awesome Geroge, I am your fan!!! Congratulations from Germany

  • Up next: Amazing Plants. WOW this show.

  • blows my mind

  • I'm very jealous! I'm soon starting to learn the piano and I'm 16 years old! It's never too late. :)

  • this kid is a bamf

  • hi

  • i could easly do that with no private life too...

  • @DrueGasm then get rid of it

  • I love the bit where he says that during the week, he gets so much homework, he is 'only' able to practise for 3 - 4 hours. I wish some of my students had only a small fraction of his dedication. While George is a prodigious talent, it demonstrates how much hard work he still has to put in in order to perform to this level. I would also guess that nobody has to push or nag him to do this practise!

  • Such rubbish acoustics in in that room. But a wonderful performance nonetheless.

  • OMG! HE PRACTICE SO MUCH!

  • @zurfinne I don't think this to be true at all.

  • Cultural liked and shared.

  • Eres unexcelente pianista!. Bravisimo...

  • his fingers look like abunch of worms when he plays

  • simply jaw dropping

  • that was amazing...

  • can't Martha play like that too?

  • nice =)

  • 鋼琴有點醜

    但他濔補了

  • Look, he has 12 fingers!

  • George, Wonderful interview and fabulous performance. You have a gift. Thanks for sharing

  • My Friend - music school teacher told me, while he was in Japan - he was shocked.

Kids in age of just few years were listening one sound for 45 mins to remember it perfectly.

On not perfectly tuned piano - the cannot play.

Those kids can't really feel music, they are robots.

    But still, i am amazed.

  • it's like he's just going left and right.

  • that kid used to go to my school now he goes to my highschool

  • the way his head bobs up and down when hes playing and his eyes go big reminds me of lang lang

  • @llethaface11 Geroge is much better looking than Lang Lang. Lang lang is a bit goggle-eyed, like Michael Caine. Our Geroge has big, clever, kind, twinkling eyes, not at all bugged-eyed like some people.

  • He practice a lot! Really good!

  • Wow. I've never heard him speak before... GREAT JOB!

  • So very talented at such a young age! It is phenomenal!

  • "Coming up next {AMAZING PLANTS}" * Changes channel..."

  • very good--but 3-4 hr a day, 6-7 on wk-ends? i guess that's how much practice it takes to get to carnegie hall. even for an 11-year old.

  • @Lingyis That's not uncommon for many of those talented young musicians. :)

  • this piece is boring

listen to his liszt rhapsodie 2 + Haydn sonata. He is insane.

  • This just blew me off....

  • umm what happend to top of piano???

  • @TheMachoman01

it was opened to give more sound, i believe

  • @TheMachoman01 For some apparent reason someone screwed it off. That's what they do in a orchestra if there is a pianist and conductor, but IDK the reason here.

  • WOW, Amazing!

  • 6 to 7 hours???????

  • future yundi li

  • great!!!!!!

  • This etude is so dificult, yet you play so effeortlessly! Your hands remind me of cloth being blown along with the wind =]

  • Very nice. Génial ! Merci, thanks !

  • He is such a cute and talented boy BRAVOOO!

  • ohh yeah..nice. :)

  • amazing!

3 hours with a lot of homework? :O

when I was 11 my piano was lucky if i got an hour's practise :( but now i love piano :)

  • @thinkgreenlovepurple Same here. When I was 11, I loved playing the piano, but I never practiced. But now, my piano is my best friend. I could spend hours practicing non stop. I love it!

  • @Reem8620 yeah I used to say I love piano, I just don't like to practise.... now I just love piano... period! :)

  • That was wonderful, George!

  • Lol, 20 people are so jealous that they gave this a thumbs down.

  • @EclecticSceptic Absolutely!!

  • Jak ja bym chciała tak umieć. Super!

  • he goes to my school

  • Good Job!

  • This kid goes to my school and I've heard him play before at our school's gala at Lincoln Center. He is very talented!! Go Team Li!

  • LUCKY!!!!

  • ...carissimo George Li.....ti ammiro molto .....mi piace come suoni il pianoforte...bravo....bravissimo...in bocca al lupo per la tua carriera artistica di grande successo....

  • wow thats amazing!

  • THIS IS CRAZY!!!!! I LOVE PIANO AND THIS KID IS AMAZING!!! but, what is even more crazy... this was shown on my birthday!!!! :D

  • Cheers to George Li!

  • MOSHKOFFSKEE. (Polish, not Hungarian)

  • gerardbedecarter , LOL!

  • Martha, Martha.....you should know better...

how could Moszkowski be a student of Choping when he wasn't born until 1854 and Chopin died in 1949. :-((((

Especialy that you are Polish and Moszkowski was too!

  • Prof. Foster, neuroscientist at Oxford, & world authority on circadian rhythms, states that melatoni, a hormone that inducea sleep, is secreted at different times in adolescents, making them wanting to go to bed and wake up later. The time delay is between 2-6 hours, meaning some teens don't really function fully until noon. Schools in England pushing back starting time to 10am, 11:30am etc have seen grades jump 10% and absenteeism reduced by30%. Difficult subjects are taught in the afternoon.

  • Now that Geroge is a fully-fleged TEENAGER, he will be needing MORE sleep because the brain is undergoing huge chemical changes during adolescence. There have suggestions in Britain to delay school starting hours because of this reason. Anyway, Martha darling, for children and teenagers, eight 0'clock is not late. It is old people who need less sleep.

  • It has the added attraction of being somewhat easier to play than it sounds. Which is not to detract from George's stunning performance here !!!!!!

  • Moriz Moszkowski sold all his copyrights and invested the money in government bonds. Unfortunately the Great War intervened and he lost the lot. In the 1920s he was found to be living in poverty in Paris and a benefit concert in New York was organised at which all the top concert pianists performed. The concert raised a deal of money but it is believed that Moskowski died before he was able to get the benefit of the proceeds. His music is very attractive and well written for the piano.

  • he came to my school today!! but now he's 14 =O

  • ...molto molto bravo....with my compliments.

  • Beautiful !!!

  • Bravooo !!!!!!!!!!!

  • A scintillating performance! Moszkowski's piano music used to be very popular and I'm glad it's being revived. His etudes are not as good as Chopin's but they are fun to listen to and, I assume, fun to play.

  • EXCELLENT!!

    CONGRATULATIONS

  • Talented, gifted, inspiring, mesmerizing. And handsome to boot!! Geroge has a big round head, probably storaging his ever-expanding repertoire in there.

  • 3-4 hours because he has to much homework? *ahum ahum* Maybe i should do that tooo xD

  • @xMainee I do 3 hours a day. I'm hoping that I'll get really good or something but it's so gradual.

  • 8:00 is late..LOL..( Trivia-- Martha has insomnia she does..)

    Bravo to GEORGE.

  • 6-7 hours? Thats probably why 20 mins a week for me is not getting my concerto done....

  • OMG AMAZING PLANTS COMING UP NEXT

  • Brilliant, & only with one serious cock-up (the fourth chord from the end).

  • yeah, i heard that XD

  • It's a good thing

  • omggg, your so good and your like -11-12-13? OMG. xD

  • One of the most gifted people to come along in my lifetime. Wonderfully able and beautifully taught.

At 11 he was already one of the best pianists of his generation.

  • What generation would that be?

  • "On the weekdays I have so much homework so I practice like 3 to 4 hours, on the weekends I have more time, so I practice 6 to 7 hours"

    .........

  • I know... I was thinking he would say 1-2 hours... talk about a prodigy

  • I went to his school u sheouldsee the kid do math problems

  • how does he do math problems?

  • I heard he is good in ALL subjects in school and he has many hobbies like baseball, video games etc. Very intellgent kid. His father is a doctor I think. Funny because his dad's name is the same as my cousin's nickname, Xiao Jian, meaning little strong one. My cousin was a poorly child and my uncle and auntie wanted her to be strong; so they gave the child a boyish and strong nickname. My only sister is called Katy, like Geroge's mom Katie. Maybe we are related!

  • I have heard that music and math are related. Both deal with abstract concepts. Counterparts are definitely mathematical. Music is differernt from all other kinds of arts. Painting, novels, sculpture, theatre etc all deal with issues, ideas, and images in life. What is music but totally abstract notes that means nothing or everything? You can adducs ideas and emotions to music, but it is still very intangible and sometimes tenous. Math is less so but is still removed from other sciences.

  • THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC

  • george li is awesome!

  • Moszkowski Etude #1

  • what happened to the cover of the piano?

  • Eight o' clock is not late. Now, we have scientific evidence that teeagers NEED to sleep late in the morning. In Britain, we call that a "lie in." You get enough of your share of "shut eye" kiddo. You deserve it with all your hard work. I have a niece who needs 10 to 12 hours sleep and she is very very clever. I think the brain is a very mysterious object. Is the lady at 3:57 your mom? She is lovely.

  • This boy has a sublime understanding of phrasing. Even in such a simple (not technically but harmonically and musically) etude, his phrasing is so amazing! It's interesting to watch him move. It's not just mindless moving around, he's really moving with the shape of the piece. And he somehow manages to play such a technical piece without even the slightest suggestion of showing off. Amazing!

  • o my gawsh!

    he so gd!!!

  • FANTASTICO¡¡

  • damn hes good

  • lol this is his video and channel. so u cud say "damn, YOU'RE GOOD!" U RULE GEORGE LI!

  • WOWW is very very very nice!!!!

  • Bravo George!---You made that difficult piece look too easy!

I often listen to the radio program

'From The Top' on WMHT here in the Hudson Valley area of N.Y.

    :o) Me.

  • He goes to my school!!!

    He's really good, its amazing!

  • 4 and a Half!!! Truly Amazing i started when i was already 8 :( and until now (10)

  • What's rare is an 11-year-old who plays with this much skill, but what's rarer is an 11-year-old who isn't just being pushed into piano and truly enjoys piano to the bone.
