I don't think any of your arguments and hate are necessary. I agree I like lube in m AR and in my hot climate I use EWL on the bolt and a little bit of EWG on the cam and carrier "rails". I have no experience in extreme cold weather shooting with the AR so I would probably take his advise to see If it works. Many people have slight differences in lubing rifles and If it works for them why cat fight about it?
Thank you for your testing. The AR is a truely great rifle. Like your car, it only takes a little oil to keep it running, and without oil you are doomed. Keep your bolt carrier lubed in the right places and your AR will run like a champ. I haven't cleaned my M4 since last November, I oil the bolt prior to range days, which are three times a month. Still no malfunctions. Great video.
Maybe you don't use oil in Alaska, but oil is an essential requirement for AR's everywhere else. More advanced oils like Slip 2000 or Froglube have come a long way in that they do not collect particles, do not gum up, and keep the weapon running.
I do NOT like the thought of bare metal rubbing on metal. It makes NO mechanical sense. YMMV.
@danieldefenseM4 The only knuckle heads lubing up their ARs are the the followers of Mr, Nutinfacy or other You Tube knuckle heads wanting to be gun experts.
Fact is you put any lube grease or oil on AR's used in below zero tempters they might fire and might not !
Surely if it fires once the second round is not going to chamber .
This is commonly known for all auto loading firearms in sub zero weather.
If you want to attack me on this issue then you are an idiot to take on an Alaskan guide !
Whoa... easy killa. I don't know where your hostile attitude came from, but its not needed. Secondly, I do not watch nutinfancy, nor he is a gun expert. Thirdly, you blatently do not know or did not care to look up the two lubes I showed you. Slip 2000 does not lose any of its viscosity up to -115 degrees, obviously you've never ever heard of it.
So I guess you don't use engine oil in your vehicles? Yeah that makes a lot of sense. Not lubing your AR's will greatly shorten their lifetime. It doesn't take an "expert" to know that metal on metal contact creates friction and wear. You need to stop using WD-40 and claim that it gums up, when there are much more modern and advances lubes DESIGNED for harsh conditions like yours. Oh well, what do I know. I'm just a Georgia "redneck" and your an ALASKAN GUIDE. Laughable.
@danieldefenseM4 You do as you like from your You Tube gun education.
My web site oregonalaskanguide dot c o m, so laugh all you want I am the one making a living in the outdoors of Alaska and in Romania offering European hunts.
You should lube up your AR then come to Alaska at -10 below to see just how it works !
If want to lube up any AR for cold weather use dry graphite is common for Alaska weather.
If I ware out any of my AR's so what I build them my self and money is know problem for me .
Wow. Are you completely incomptetent with the English language sir? For the THIRD time, and I say again, THIRD time, look up Slip 2000 EWL lube. Its one of the best lubes on the market right now according to many people actually smarter than you, and it maintains its viscocity up to -115 degrees! Thats 105 degrees colder than your claiming your guns gum up! Stop proving your ignorance.
@danieldefenseM4 So what if I made slip up in spelling, its seems you understood me clearly to act out like an idiot your are, and what now your Mr.English professor !
You are so ignorant you have to believe your you tube idles MrLockandload, Nutinfancy, and be a stupid parrot blabbering BS that you heard from other You Tube idiots.
I out do you by years and by my profession, and you well have a good time scrubbing toilets as your profession at 7 buck an hour!
I am a fan of piston guns and have 5 of different makes in different calibers and barel lengths.
I clean my AR's and AK's with simple green and hot water then dry them of with a heat gun, do the bore with bore solvent and re-lube with 6-8 drops of MGL. That is how that rifle was cleaned prior to this clip and it had 90 rds on it when we burried it.
@fastrhinotucson Top soil mud will stop any rifle depending on its consistency and the condition of the rifle mechanically (magazine in/out , bolt forwar/rear, ejection port open/closed. The magazine in sand, dirt and mud will fail long before the rifle piston or D/I.
what ever happened to the follow up to this video?

@adamelida19 Oil if you like, I've never oiled any AR or the M16 I own.
They always work fine without oil and I think oil does cause problems over time because particles cling to the oil making build up of gunk faster.
Also in Alaska oil on any AR is serious problems in cold weather because the oil turns thick and to sticky muck.
From my experience building AR's for 10 years just port out the gas hole in the barrel larger with a 101 drill bit that cures all issues of oiling.
