6:07-Wait, is that the same John Romero that made Quake and Daikatana?
Anyway, if by user-generated content, they mean mods and stuff, I don't know how to necessarily make mods for PC games. It's not like I can PC game on this laptop, because I don't have the proper graphics card for most games.
The maker genre is interesting too. Sometimes you're just an idea away from making a good game, though you have to sometimes sacrifice what you want to do with what you can do (glitches or your own limitations at getting things to work correctly). Free user generated content as said on 6:39 is better than any company since it undermines the profit motive; why pay someone to do something you enjoy doing yourself for free, especially with less effort needed?
If they think we want to sit around watching cutscenes instead of playing, I hope they all go out of business. I don't care about some crappy story by a frustrated wannabe filmmaker, I just want to play a game.
@Replayability I also thought that way from year 2000 to 2009, when I played Uncharted. It changed my mind and now I see room for a great variety of good games. Maybe it doesn't work for you, it just did for me.
