this is the worst movie ive ever seen, it just sucks. everyone in the theater just started walking out on the movie and saying it sucks, i stayed all the way because i felt bad for the 7 dollars i wasted.
It didn't suck at all; I actually enjoyed it, it made the movie suspenseful and made it create tension; unlike some other movies that just show the monster and all they do is fight through most of the movie, which gets pretty dull after a while.
And that's a bummer you didn't enjoy it but it's far from the worst movie you've probably ever seen, maybe the most confusing.
you know, the reason i liked this movie was BECAUSE of the unanswered questions. most movies have a scientist or something rather come out at last minute to explain WHY things are happening as they are, but in cloverfield there was absolutely no explanation. the movie was pure nonconformist.

Even if the crappy camerawork (which WAS distracting and annoying) was not an issue, the movie is still lacking in story, characters,acting, and even the monster wasnt scary in the end (its size was impressive,though).The viral marketing and edgy gimmicky quality of the film DID play a great part in some people being taken in and liking it but that does NOT make it a great movie. Its 7 weeks later and it hasnt broken $100 milion and its slipped down the charts. "Good" movies dont do that badly.

Monster on the loose in an urban environment. The government decides to nuke the area in order to contain it. Same plot as Alien v Predator Requiem. Except we've got to put up with shakey handycam filming under the implausible pretext that somebody is actually making sure he's got to record everything as he's running for his life and his friends are being killed. I felt that this was a gimmicky rip-off. The monster was good though.
My first horror/sci-fi movie when I was 4 or 5 was Godzilla. From then I probably have seen trillions of movies of this genre where very little have surprised me. Cloverfield did. Well shot that contributes to continuously scaring the audience. But it's not for everybody. You have to like and appreciate these types of films.
This clip is probobly the most fun you will have watching Cloverfield. The rest of the movie is a waste of time. just watch this clip and enjoy, avoid paying $10 on the rest of the film. It didn't suck at all; I actually enjoyed it, it made the movie suspenseful and made it create tension; unlike some other movies that just show the monster and all they do is fight through most of the movie, which gets pretty dull after a while.
And that's a bummer you didn't enjoy it but it's far from the worst movie you've probably ever seen, maybe the most confusing.
But I respect your opinion.

you know, the reason i liked this movie was BECAUSE of the unanswered questions. most movies have a scientist or something rather come out at last minute to explain WHY things are happening as they are, but in cloverfield there was absolutely no explanation. the movie was pure nonconformist.

I really enjoyed this movie.. Although all that swaying around and twirling and jumping with the camera made me feel a bit queasy. I know 2 of the ppl i saw it with actually had to stop watching halfway through and go barf. XD But meh, i liked it!

look, keep the shaky camera.Holding the camera still would have been bad for the film too.I just wish the camera could have been realistically shaky.Compared to the hundreds of real,handheld,amature videos we've seen on TV/internet,the movie's camera is overdone and not realistic either.How many times have you seen amature footage of a crashing airshow jet exploding in flames and 75% of the time the camera guy shifting the shot to show his buddy's stupid face,or zooming in and out over and over?

personally the monster was like the only really good part of the whole movie. REALLY GOOD PART. the cam was incredibly dizzy and i kept thinking throughout "why the fuck is he not running?" so that was pretty distracting yeah :P btw...ITZ GODZILLA!!!

Even if the crappy camerawork (which WAS distracting and annoying) was not an issue, the movie is still lacking in story, characters,acting, and even the monster wasnt scary in the end (its size was impressive,though).The viral marketing and edgy gimmicky quality of the film DID play a great part in some people being taken in and liking it but that does NOT make it a great movie. Its 7 weeks later and it hasnt broken $100 milion and its slipped down the charts. "Good" movies dont do that badly.

Monster on the loose in an urban environment. The government decides to nuke the area in order to contain it. Same plot as Alien v Predator Requiem. Except we've got to put up with shakey handycam filming under the implausible pretext that somebody is actually making sure he's got to record everything as he's running for his life and his friends are being killed. I felt that this was a gimmicky rip-off. The monster was good though.

My first horror/sci-fi movie when I was 4 or 5 was Godzilla. From then I probably have seen trillions of movies of this genre where very little have surprised me. Cloverfield did. Well shot that contributes to continuously scaring the audience. But it's not for everybody. You have to like and appreciate these types of films.

This clip is probobly the most fun you will have watching Cloverfield. The rest of the movie is a waste of time. just watch this clip and enjoy, avoid paying $10 on the rest of the film. Anyway, 5 or so weeks later, the movie is barely showing in most theaters anymore anyway. Just shows you that this movie doesnt have the quality nor legs to stay in theaters...
