  • Ajahn Brahm is such a wonderful human being. I like to meet the open minded being like him. His teaching is so entertainment and it is a valuable insight for me to learn from him then I can use it to handle with the difficult ppl. in my life.

  • I think the Srilankan have a high faith in buddhism, that why they show respect so deeply like that. Like AJ. Brahm when he met with his teacher AJ. Chah, Aj. Brahm was also bow his head down to AJ. chah foot. All Buddhism is the South East do that, even to the elder, like parent and uncle, or Grand parents, any elder, if they feel respect toward that person.

  • yeah human should have self respect.

is that why muslims blow up innocent people in every country.

ha ha. a muslims is talking about respect. what a lame joke. he he.LOL.

  • You are a real dum fool. I will have to tell you the "Frog in the Well" story again.

  • Even frogs will not kiss the feet of other frogs!

    LOL

  • the monk bow his head down, the real meaning, they bow down for the Enlighted mind, not 2 AJ. Brahm. AJ. Brahm is just in human uniform with a lighted mind. U can see why Dalai Lama bow his head 2 every one And one thing, in Buddhism rule & regulation, Universal law is that AJ. Brahm is a senior monk. A junior monks who has less years than AJ. Brahm have to pay respect 2 elder, or senior monk The same @ work ppl. who work longer will hav more experience than the employee who less experience

  • Look again! It is not bowing! It is putting ones head down on the floor in front of a fellow human!

It is more like humiliating oneself rather than honoring another! One has to put down his head on the floor only in front of the creator and none else is worthy of it!

  • Then won't it be more worthwhile worshiping your mother and father u fool? Arn't they are your actual creators in this world? If God had created you I guess your face should be like the Allah, can't be like your father's. Good for you!

  • People with true spiritual insight do not lose self-respect by touching the feet of another with their head to show respect.

It is only those who utterly lack self-respect & have no hope of developing any that worry about losing self-respect. Then they post their silly comments on every Buddhist video in order to pretend they even know what self-respect is.

  • The devas in all directions said Sadhu,Sadhu

  • the dhamma talk for the monks is quite different from the dhamma for the ordinary people.

  • A wonderful lesson for all of us.

  • I really had not idea how revered this monk is!

  • FOR ALL OF YOU WHO NOTICED THAT AJAHN BARHM'S THIS SPEECH IS NOT AS FUN AS THE OTHERS IN ENGLISH:

MANY people in Sri Lanka DO NOT understand some of the jokes and fun stuff Ajahn Brahm use. Translations of some of the funny ones makes no sense in Sinhalese. It is hard to translate fun stuff in English to Sinhalese. You will find it is hard to make fun Dharma talks to Sri Lankans! Ajahn Brahm is smart enough to not to use some of his stuff there in Sri Lanka.

  • Are you a TAMIL TIGER?

  • Hope you will find or have found something truly appropriate for your needs on the world wide web. In any case, it may not have been a waste - it' helpful sometimes to know what things we resist, to know how we're limited, and it's good you at least gave it a chance. Be well, friend, and be happy. Best wishes.

I wanted to thank you for your nice reply, maybe you'll read it as a guest some time.

I wasn't fond of things like handling lust by making the object 'artificially' unattractive. I don't find it fair to these young men, don't consider it honest.

In my opinion, the own path is always the most adaptive and outruns any religious doctrine. I'm sure Siddhartha would nod ;)

    Take care!

  • I understand what you mean but I wouldn't call it dishonest either. It's just a device to center the mind to free it from lust. Not necessarily the "right" way. Just a way that may help you. There are 2 sides to every coin. One might liken it to saying "The best way to avoid anger and cultivate compassion is to see the person wronging you as yourself or as a Buddha." This isn't "honest" to your feelings... but feelings are rarely honest to begin with. It's about trying to lead a skillful life.

  • Understandably Ajahn Brahm has adapted his delivery to suit the people and situation - speaking slower so the translating Bhikkhu has a easier time. But Dhamma talks are not entertainment, though they can be lively & entertaining, the point is to deliver clearly and effectively the path of morality, calm and insight - according to the aptitude and character of the audience. Both the content and delivery will always vary. And certainly, it's impossible to please everyone ...

  • Unsubscribing because of 1 talk seems a pity, for surely there are plenty of lively talks on the BSWA stream - you can listen to those if you feel they are easier to relate to & more relevant to your life. It is rare to find a Dhamma teacher like Ajahn Brahm, but as the Buddha Gotama said, no one, not even Buddhas are free from praise & blame.

  • I am originally from Sri Lanka. I know for a FACT that MANY people in Sri Lanka DO NOT understand some of the jokes and fun stuff Ajahn Brahm used in the past. Translations of some of the funny ones makes no sense in Sinhalese. Do whatever makes you happy, but understand that it is hard to translate fun stuff in English to Sinhalese.

  • speaking for yourself i guess.
