  • This sounds like shit...

  • This is Ritter's transcription, and let me tell you that the performance is abysmal! What's up with the tempo?!

Anyway, anyone who wants the score can post a comment on my youtube profile. I tried really hard to find this version, and it's the closest to the original Danse Macabre.

  • magnifique....

  • To bad that Saint-Saëns didn't play it himself for Welte.

  • This is a Red Welte-Mignon roll right?

I have that one playd by Eugen D'albert on my restored Welte-Mignon, Superb play!!!!

  • Bellissimo!

    :D

  • This recording appears on "Masters of the Roll" disc 13, which suggests that it is played by Saint-Saëns himself. d'Albert's rolls appears on disc 11.

  • After some research I notice that this work is not included in Saint-Saëns' rollygraphy, while d'Albert indeed did make rolls of this work for both Welte and Art-Echo.

  • I agree with CroSpirit. SO far I have not found a better player than Misha.

  • But he plays a simplified version arranged by Horowitz.

    I prefer this one!:)

  • This is cramer version.

    and It's not simplified.

  • compared to the liszt/horowitz version it basically is.

  • Kinda sloppy interpretation.Didn´t liked it very much..

  • Awesome!! Thank you for posting this. I, too, prefer it to an orchestration.

  • When it was recorded? what age was D'Albert a that time?

  • magnificent, this my number one favorite

  • awesome and a favorite

  • Anyone knows whos transcription he is playing? Its much closer to the original piece than the Liszt or Horowitz one.

  • this is the piano version by Saint-Saëns himself, he wrote it indeed originally for concert, but made a piano transcription cause of the face he was a flawless pianist himself. you can read in @ wikipedia

  • No, Saint-Saëns himself made only a transcription for two pianos! I belive that this is in fact the transcription of Ernest Guiraud. I'm right now trying to obtain the score to confirm this asap.

  • well the begining isn't the same true, if you find his transcription, maybe you could notify me? :)

  • notify us when u find the score =) thx

  • Yes, please notify us when you the score! Thanks.

  • Brilliant, unique performance!

  • Superb! Bravo! TY.

  • I've listened 2 version of the version of Horowitz and a part the virtuosism I prefer the original or the Liszt version!

The virtuosism is not always best musically!

  • Niiiice! I had only listened to an orchestra version, but this is better!

  • Wonderful. I adore this version !

  • Superbe !
