The movie for me was better, simply because Utena and Anthy became *much* more canon, and it was beautiful <3 The failing was, the film makes barely any sense and you can't really love the characters unless you've seen the anime (imo). Therefor, everyone should watch both :D
Me, personally I love both the anime and the movie; since the movie was my very first anime DVD I bought and the anime series was the first anime series that I watched that wasn't on TV. So both are very dear to me. But I always remembered this trailer seeing how its so breath-taking=)
I had no choice but to like this show because of you and your amazing voice...........WE HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO FIGHT,sorry crispin i had to say it im playing TOS right now and that line is stuck in my head luckey me right!
Um...you might be able to find it somewhere on YT, and if not, try searching for it on veoh or google. Oh, if you have a netflix account, you could watch it instantly on the site.
god i haven't seen this film in years! luckily my friend has it on DVD ha ha. The animation in this was absolutely amazing. My friends and i quote this all the time and its in my top 10 favorite anime films to date. chao!
I haven't seen a lot of good anime movies based off of anime TV series, but this is one of the exceptions. It's a bit confusing, but it's also artfully executed, so I can forgive the writers and director for that. The movie features some of the most beautiful animation I've seen in an anime. I wanted to hang my TV on the wall like a painting at certain points! The dub was also very well done; it seems that you gave Touga more of a heart in the movie than in the series.
The TV series is about a girl (Utena) who falls in love with a prince, and she was so inspired by that meeting that she began to dress in more masculine clothing and attended a private school called Ohtori Academy in order to find that prince. She then meets and befriends a mysterious girl named Anthy, who hold the power to revolutionize the world. Since the prince gave Utena a special ring when they met, she is able to protect her friend by participating in a series of duels with other...
That doesn't appear in the TV series. That's just the director of the movie just messing with the viewer's heads (as if he wasn't doing it enough already).

I remember seeing this movie when i was like 10 i think maybe 11...
anyway it didn't make any sense to me, was kind of disturbing...
but i'd like to see it again now that i've seen (parts at least) of the anime and am older.
still, why did they turn into a car? that was just the weirdest thing...

@RebbieChan The anime was better.
I am a little young... but I love the anime. I haven't seen the movie yet, tho I am a big utena fan.
I think that the scene where she turned into a car was.. stupid. o.o

@Nenna333 my friend has the anime - says its real good, but the movie has almost nothing to do with the anime. :/
