majority of companies are not releasing games for 2 reasons. First Pirating is out of control and no one actually buys it. Second is a result of the first one, because no one actually buys PC games there isn't much money involved in producing so many companies simply ignore the fact that the PC is a superior gaming platform and develop strictly for consoles.

You also have to put into account that consoles are growing in power and ability. So much so that they are starting to act very much like computers. And though they can not do many things a normal computer can do, they are getting there. And a true gaming computer does cost more then an average Ps3 or 360. So add in the low price, pirating, and consoles acting like computer and you have a good reason why PC games are growing fewer and fewer. That and games like WoW are flooding the market.
