  • so confusing please do it again.

  • nice job fun and easy to learn

  • shut the fuck up

  • not how to play it. for the main riff.. play the two first hammer-ons at the open D, then slide up to the 3rd fret to G hand position and hammer on the third string from fret 4-5.

  • Taylor 414ce?

  • @van1980 214ce

  • Thanks man this is an excellent lesson! It makes the song even more fun to play!

  • Nice of you to do that for the pickers dying to know how you did that. I noticed you switched guitars, I'm sure you have several. Couldn't see the headstock, but this one sure looks like my Taylor 214ce. Is that what it is? I've had mine a couple of years, it does the job. Do you like yours? Any complaints? Is that your favorite one that you have?

    Thanks.

  • hey man, can you please make the tabs and email me them, it will be awhole lot easier for me.

    Kepp rockin!

  • Very cool! It's a big help for us just learning.

    Thanks!

  • Not only does he rock he shares the rock, priceless my friend. Hope your from Texas cause that's pure attitude.

  • @txborntxbred hes a pure bred canadian

  • cheers have had some trouble with this one for a while until now

  • Great ! Whatever you are doing, you have passion for it ! And the skill ! Share it with others !

  • Excellent video. Thanks for putting your tutorial up. I started with your version but I think it sounds even better if you tune the high E string down to D so you have double drop D tuning. You get a really good drone throughout the tune. Keep up the good work.

  • cheers man, helpful vid

  • not possible its CGI i think , fingers dont move that way unless there broken.............ack i suck

  • man do you play banjo you should break out the banjo

  • great playing! Could you possibly complete a full instructional including the solo before vietnam? These instructionals on youtube help a LOT of people including myself. There are not many instructors that can play, make songs sound correct or better, and teach good. You are one of a very talented few. Its appreciated, keep up the good work.

  • great playing! would you please make an instructional video of one chord song by stoney larue or empty glass by the great gary stewart, thanks

  • Hey thanks took me a wile to pick up the intro (all night) thanks for this great tutorial

  • great guitar playing! I am trying to learn the song, could you explain the strum pattern indepth. I would also like the "copperhead roadish" part slowed down, including the strum. thanks alot hope I can get it .

  • ok.. this is great. tabs would be nice as well..... anybody??

  • i know the song you really should do... where i come from

    you know..

where i come from its corn bread and chicken.. yeahh that one

  • Man, that's a great tutorial. I've been working on this tune for a while now and this will help for sure...

    Thanks!!

  • Please don't delete your videos geetarHero! I need them!!! Someday I'll post a video response of what I figured out!

    THank you!

  • Playing guitar "at this level" means playing like a pro. Sorry if I wasn't clear on that. You're very good.

  • Did any body else sense the insult hidden in the idot below heres comment? What a chump.

  • I didn't, I think if you're talking about the "playing guitar at this level" thing...well I can sorta see how that could be insult but I don't think he/she meant it that way

  • Well I am glad. You obviously are a nice person. Hopefully I am wrong:) It just seemed smug. Thanks again for video. I keep watching it and am working on trying to play it myself. It is tough though since I just started playing. My little finger doesn't want to make that reach on the D chord. Its like one on my hands has down syndrome:)

  • Geet,

I teach, and your teaching style is very nice...straight forward, pleasantly raw, and mixed with just enough humor. Very conducive to 'instant gratification', and let's face it...that's what playing guitar at this level is all about. Nicely done.

  • Cool man. Great tutorial. Your Copperhead Road has to be the best I've found thus far...you killed it man.

  • tomorrow, I am gonna take the time to watch this and tab out the riffs, after I get done i will post another comment with a link to the tab file

  • Omg u totally discouraged me now. I jus started playin the guitar, but seein this i´ll better quit tryin now :D:D

  • LOL This is a fun but tough one...

there's other ways to play the song...this is his version...although it sounds awesome... you don't have to play it just like him (until you're better). Don't give up! :) Find an easier lesson and go from there : )

  • dude, awesome lesson. Thanks.

Crap, I didn't notice that you had this lesson in the video responses and I learned most of it off of the original video stopping and rewinding. Probably would've been a bit faster this way.

    At time 3:28... = pretty funny. :)

  • You're welcome, hope you found it helpful! The facial expressions MUST accompany nasty bends like at 3:28! lol

  • hahaha!! Damn right. :)

  • Good stuff

  • Dude, this is bad ass.

I have been learning the song off this video.

Got a couple questions for ya if you don't mind.

    1) During the intro, after strumming on D, then playing the C Chord shape, you move up like to the 12th fret before going back to the D chord to start the song proper.

Can you tell me what fret you are on exactly and what chord shape that is? I can't quite figure it out.

    Thanks!!

  • It's pretty much just barring the strings with one finger but I'm also muting all but the low E, A and D strings. It's just basically sliding down the neck from the 12th fret (which is a D) to the open (low) E, A, and D strings (D chord). Hope that makes sense.

  • Thanks man... so basically bar at the 12th fret and just let the low E, A and D strings ring out?

  • Yep you got it

  • thanks raab, that was useful.

  • You are welcome keith mckeitherson

  • you should do "Life's A Dance" by John Michael Montgomery!

  • This is an awesome tutorial, you aren't clear on the strumming part, when you alter the D cord a whole bunch of ways...can you go over that again? I really want to finish learning this song! You are so good :) Thanks for posting

  • holy shit

  • Nice job, I couldn't play the intro until I watched your video.

  • Well I'm glad you can play it now

  • Thanks for being a good guy, and showing how to play song.. Can you teach Southside Midnight Lady? (doobie Brothers} Thanks Bro...Great job...

  • You're welcome....I don't know that song though sorry!

  • i cnt play but, i picked it up enuf by ur video to show a friend and they got it...so u r great fuck what all the haters say...

  • Not everybody can pick it up by ear dude.

  • That's pretty harsh. Why do people watch instr. videos on youtube? The same reason people read tab...to better their playing or to find new and better ways to play songs. I agree, not everyone can pick up songs by ear. I commend anyone that takes the time to teach..and not get paid for it. If you have the knowledge...pass it on!!

  • Steve Earle never made an instructional video for any of his songs. So no, watching Steve play a song is not nearly as informative as Geetar's video lesson. I'd like to see you teaching a beginner. You'd probably give up and call them "naive".

  • There is a reason he hasn't.

The truth is, if someone really wants to know, they could just watch video's of Steve Earle.

Learn your first position chords really well. There's plenty of info on the internet.

There's a difference between teaching someone who is actually there and just making a video in your room about how to play something.

    I'd have lots of patience.

But i would expect that if someone wants to learn the guitar they should just play.

  • thanks a lot

  • Excellent, thanks for taking the time to do that.

    Al.

  • Brilliant! Thanks for taking the time to share.

The tutorial is a real gift to those of us that want to be be as good :-)

  • Thanks. That's good to hear because I almost feel like I shouldn't be posting these...I'm not THAT good of a player, I realize there are far better/smoother players lol and I know next to nothing about theory. But I guess as long as people like yourself find it helpful then it's all good. Thanks again for the comment!

  • You are really talented...I think your work on this song is innovative. I think you are edgy and fresh. I wish you lived in the southeast U.S. so you could feel the love crowds would give you with your style and talent. You know alot about the theory of kicking tail.

By the way my 9 year old daughter loves you.

    Keep on countrying!

  • Very good! 5 stars!

  • yourr soo cute countryyy boyy (: haha

  • Oh McD , hungover.. tsk tsk!

  • Ya ya, sorry. It happens.

  • Haha ok :P

  • Yep

    DDR

  • good tutorial!

  • Hey man I got a request for ya! I'll send ya a message about it here in a min.
