The camera was already taken from her when it was cut. Perhaps the cops cut it in case one of them was thinking of committing suicide? :-)

I was commenting on the strings & belts while in custody not the camera, if the cops had wanted to be sneaky they would have just snapped the DVD and left it in the Camera.

They probably took it to watch at the Christmas party.

People have been known on occasion to try and kill themselves in police custody, & shoe laces & belts are used.
