so colorful.the show doesn't look old. debra still drives me nuts.funny thing is,when i was watching this back then.i never thought i would still be alive today.
Madame would have mentioned the second largest city in Australia called Melbourne, on this episode of Solid Gold, but instead it's a fake city that Madame made up.
i have always thought kahea was a beautiful dancer but it was not until this video and specifically the dance to "break my stride" have i noticed just how beautiful she is and not to mention her nice legs! would love to see kahea today! keep posting great videos!
One thing that I loved about Kahea is how she matured during her four season. Season 1 Kahea seemed to have a teen look and during Season 4 Kahea looked to be true beauty! Funny that in a recent picture Kahea has brown hair. I did not know she colored her hair.
Blond hair tend to darken as the person ages. Kahea looked like a natural blond back when she was on the show. But as she got older, she probably turned "dirty blond". But in a photo I have of her from this summer, she looks like a dark blond with lighter highlights.
So she probably didn't color her hair back in the day.
I hated that this episode Tony had only one segment he was in. Overall, Tony was one of the best Dancers on SG and he did deserve better. I too loved the green and beige outfit at the end.
Tony's last appearance (without repeat performances) was shortly after this episode. He was featured with the other dancers (except Pam) in both the opening and closing number but did not dance in the top 10 countdown. I believe the opening number is "Olympia" by Sergio Mendes. I knew the next episode he was gone. So Sad!!!!!!!!!!
I have quite a collection of SG and there were a few dancers who had their dance time cut just before they were replaced. It aggrevated me a lot. The list that I remember includes Paula, Alex, Tony, Deborah, and Mark comes to mind. As in Tony, Deborah, and Alex, they had only one solo during their final season...sucked!!!
same here. They deserved better! However, they may have had other obligation (jobs). But still, to cut the solos was just not right. Especially when Alex, Tony, and Deborah had great duets!
Yes it was awful that Tony only appeared in once this entire episode!!! Pity, he was a great great dancer if not the best male ever to appeared on solid gold. Glad he went on to great projects!!
what hacked me off about Anita is that she seemed to play favorites with certain Dancers. Then the original Dancers such as Alex, Deborah, and Tony had their appearances cut or that during the countdown their time dancing was minimized. As in Tony, I hated to see him go, but on the other hand it was well worth seeing him on screen in "A Chorus Line!"
I never saw "Trick or Treat." The only movies I saw Tony in was "A Chorus Line" and also "Protocol." Personally, I believe that Anita started to cut Tony's screen time down is due to his popularity. Granted, Tony did not breakdance but he was arguably the best male dancer on the show.
It's there, at the end of the post. The girls are in the "nude" colored outfits with the neon green tropical print. Marilyn say, from "down under to the top of the charts" - did you not watch the whole video?
I don't understand what you want. Are you talking about the commercial released version from the album "Solid Gold"? If so, it's already posted (by someone else) and I used it for the "Solid Gold - Slide Show" that I posted a few weeks back.
I let you know gvillafanec that you are not the only one who afirm kahea bright was fantastic, buttt please don't forget deborah, darcel, pam, cooley ;-)
Nice post. What was this idea about? Were they thinking of doing more top 10 from other countires for a spinoff and wanted to see people's reaction. Seems to me that this evolved into SG Hits.
No, in the into, Marilyn says something about the rising number of stars from Australia and their popularity & influence. They just wanted to showcase them like they did 60's, 70's & Country music.
wow, this a great video, and number 7 is an amazing dancing between cooley and kahea, in my personal opinion kahea is one of favorites dancers, I don't have idea about this specail on solid gold I always thought that specials like solid gold salutes to... came later, very good
No, they did 60's (with Andy ), 70's (with Rex), Country (a couple of times - I think), the Grammy's and the Movies. Plus the Christmas ones (of course!)
I think they just tried to make things interesting.

That closing song and dance is so familiar, I remember it like it was yesterday. Where did time go? Thanks for the post.

So, I take it this is the infamous "Tony's Last Episode"?????????

Nothing like punishing the ones that made the show, just because they chose to move on to other projects!

Let's not forget his starring role in "Trick or Treat". Probably his biggest role. And yes Anita's favoritism was a bit unnerving!

I agree with you that Tony was the best male dancer. And you should see 'Trick or Treat'.
