Her "half white or half black" comment was unobjectionable. She used a linguistically acceptable elliptical construction, which means that she merely left out words which were contextually unnecessary. The full meaning of her statement, when spelled out for imbeciles, is "They don't care that he is half white, nor do they care that he is half black." Why not just "mixed" or "half white/half black"? For emphasis and reinforcing the point that race is a non-issue from both angles.

I'd say probably the latter...

The truth of the matter is- most if not all African Americans have some white in them. However the Racial Integrity Act of 1924 imposed the one drop rule, making anyone with any traceable signs of black ancestry black. Not half British and African but Black.
