@LetThemFlyStudio It works on Windows Media Player, that means it has to work on quick time and all the other softwares. Maybe you have rendered it in another kind of format? It has to be MP4 or AVI. If it still doesn't work try to use "VLC Media Player", It works with most codecs.

@roan280 Well, I'm not going to make a tutorial for such an easy thing like that but if you haven't already figured it out it there is a bar named "Video FX" at the top of the timeline whre you find all the effects.

@tylerml That can depend on many things. Rendering in full HD with Sony Vegas charges the CPU alot so if you have an old or weak CPU it can take very long time to render or even crash. If you actually have a pretty strong CPU and it still crashes it could be something in the system or something with the scale of the video, for example, if your video is recorded in small resolution and not widscreen the rendering could make it scale a bit and mess with the Sony Vegas system so it crashes.

Does this work? I've watched so many different videos and continually rendered my video in different ways to make it be clear on YouTube, but no matter what I do it's fuzzy until you push 720 or 1080 hd. I have a really good camera and it's perfect quality on sony vegas...but then I upload it and it sucks.

So please stop complaining about the song guys and just mute the freakin video if you can't stand the song, it's harder to write a complain about it than just mute the video...

@MyCatIsItchy when you render in this setting, its roughly 5mins of render time for 1 min of actual video. So, for a 10 min YT video you're probably looking at roughly 70 misn or so. I guess, you can render it overnite.

If you wan't to reastablish the render template to, use MainConcept (MPEG-2).

@StyleDiamondz Ok, but you should have it. I had it when I used Sony Vegas Pro 8. One thing that hits me is that you don't have the update required for the AVCHD template. If you have an older/erlier crack of Sony Vegas 8 you might not have it because it came with an update. Your possibilities are to find an AVCHD template plugin and download it to Sony Vegas or download a newer version of Sony Vegas.

@Shab7FeEldonya Sony Vegas Pro 8 and 7 should work fine on XP. It's the same settings for Pro 8 but on Pro 7 I think you must use normal Sony AVCHD for better quality on YouTube. Sony Vegas Platinum editions also works on XP but there aren't the same sort of setting layers for the Platinum editions as in the Pro editions.

The problem with what you wan't to do is YouTube. Youtube made the quality changing settings for those who have slow computers or slow connection. When you render the videofile with those settings and play it with for example in Windows Media Player you will see it with the best quality (Full HD), but when you upload it to YouTube the video changes to a lower quality and you have to click it yourself for better quality. It's nothing you can change.

If the video was filmed in 1920x1080p but you render it in 720p for sake of play back speed and file size, and then upload it to youtube will youtube still give you the 1080p option or no? Also mines plays back very choppy right now when i do this, its not the computer, i havent figured out what I did wrong yet/

ok i tried this but it still plays back very choppy on vlc and skips around alot. Its a 1080p vid, i didnt even wanna try2 upload to youtube yet till it plays back on my computer correctly first. its not the computer speed either its a very capable computer. Im thinking somethings wrong w/ the rendering, I may just try to render it in 720p and see if it works better in a lower quality if this doesnt work again after i try it one more time, it just sucks because it takes over a hour 2 render.

I haven't tried that yet, but I'm pretty sure it won't give you 1080p, cause if you have recorded it in 1080p and then render it in 720p the quality will be lower but still in fresh 720p.

When you upload the video at 1920x1080 you will run into a weird issue that has to do with YouTube's native format (H.264) being a mod 16 based format, ie. If you upload at full1920x1080, YouTube would do a nearest neighbor processing on your video. This makes small text appear horrible, I have some examples of this and a mod 16 format.

A mod 16 output would be 1920x1072 and it makes text appear crisp with YouTube HD.

If you make them in 720p it maybe will take some minutes, ut if you render them in 1080p it can't take some minutes. Unless you have a very very very powerfull computer.

Why do you need to do the 16:9 crop in the beginning if your video is already 16:9??

Because if you don't do that and only choose the template as Widescreen, then the quality will look like 480p...

But if the video you import is captured in Widescreen then you don't need to do that as you said.

This won't make much of a difference unless your recording device can record at 1080p. Check your camera or capture device before doing this, if it can only record at 720p - this just slows down rendering times. Just a tip :)
