  • Should of run up a road, just the same,George was a great charactor, such a shame. Is only foal is a mare called Date With Destiny trained by Richard Hannon,3year old in 2011 hope she improves, she has her dads looks :)

  • This race always makes me sad that such a great horse as George Washington was risked on this surface, a surface he had never raced on or had been bred to, george washington would have hammered these horses on turf, i think connections of george washington need to take responsibility for risking him on such a ridiculous surface, the fact he was infertile and was no use at stud doesnt mean its fine to run him to his death Disgraceful

  • The track at Monmoth "SUCKED" that day. I like having the Breeders Cup races on the east coast on conventional dirt. But even in Kentucky, the weather in early November can be very unpredictable. In New York and New Jersey in early November, down right unforgiving. That's why in years that the B.C. races are back east, I'd like to see them somewhere like Gulfstream in Miami. Conventional dirt, 70 degree weather, all the best of both worlds. Good track, great weather. I don't like "MUD" racing.

  • i agree..he didn't like the surface,he should not've been in the race

  • who sings that soong??

  • Hard Spun ist der ware Gewinner

  • wooooooo big brown is gonna beat curlin :/

  • aww poor horse they should of pulled him up!

  • Fuck this why wasnt he pulled up?

  • see. I never knew George Washington broke down and was killed. no one told me that . i thought he was old or something. Sad. 2007. that's one of many horses that lost their lives early.if you guys see another horse breakdown tell me.

  • i salute Aidian O'Brien 4 making that decision, hearing Dr.Bramalege talk,it sounds like the vets probably would have euthanized anyway had the trainer not said anything..RIP George

  • i think i watched this race but the horse didn't breakdown

  • Robby and Curlin r almost running blindly;

  • 2:11 ~ george is in trouble. the unnaturally high head carriage and hollow-backed gallop shows he is coming short ~ he is hurting. he should have been pulled up right then. no, let's go back farther ~ he should not have been there. of course, the "sloppy nature" of the track could have contributed to the injury, brainless twit. g--d---it ~

sweet george, always we love you ~

  • horses are bread and kept to race its there instinct ..i hate ppl who try to say its crule they dont know wat there talkn bout

  • Racing isnt a horses instinct. Theyre animals, and however humans train them, their primary instinct is survival and reproduction. They'd run away from a predator natrually but not race against each other...

  • we owned george an aiden only ran him because of the punters....he was a sure each way bet if that had not happened R.I.P george :(

a compensation bet 4 punters is KICKING KING in the gold cup i backed him at 40/1 earlier in the season with inside info, hes only 14/1 now so get on each way!!thanks again 4 following GEORGE:(:(:(

  • remember everyone that these horses ran with theyre whole hearts and risked everything they had and new wot could happen but they ran to show that theyre not weak and they have all proved that im very sad about gw 2 its unfortunate and we will all miss hil rip gw but at least he did it doing wot he loved

  • Y were any animals made to run in these conditions?Greed.

  • george washington should never have raced in that race. Aidan O'Brien was an idiot to have raced him in that race. the conditions werent up to his standard and if he hadnt have raced in that race, he would still have been here.

we'll miss u george and ur the best

    RIP

  • aiden o'brien runs his horses where he his told to by his bosses

  • I do agree that it was tragic of what happened to George Washington. However, I have seen worse on a race at Bay Meadows last summer...and that was a hard/fast dirt surface. Secondly, there's no need to put the blame on anyone person thing. That's just foolish.

  • money loving basturds.hope racing is banned, rip all those brave horses.

  • Piss on showjumping

  • piss on joshb729. i dont see horses die in showjumping quite so frequently. aidan o brien always runs horses even if they have no chance. in britain a lot of his horses die on the track. one was lame before the race started and even the vet and jockey said so but aiden had the upperhand. the horse broke his leg 30 seconds later. money money money

  • horse racing is the greatest sport on earth.. hopefully it stays that way if we can keep all the whinebaby sissies from screwing it up.

  • i dont undestand the comment you make about aiden o brien running horses in races in which they dont have a chance of winning do you honestly think the magniers would have him training there horses if thats the case? dont knock horse racing its the sport of kings!!

  • Oh dear.......yet another breakdown. Goodbye, brave boy, run straight up to heaven and give Ruffian a nudge from me!

  • Jerryhal1, I agree with you completely. Well said.

  • What happened to GW was extremely tragic. I nearly cried when I found out what happened to the champ. That said, it is a joke that Euro racing fans are blaming this on American racing. Aidan O'Brien wasn't forced to run GW. I'm not blaming Aidan for the catastrophe, but if he felt the track was unsafe, he could have simply chosen to scratch. I agree that the BC should never be held at Monmouth again and should be postponed if conditions are this bad.

  • 'I agree that the BC should never be held at Monmouth again'

Why exactly are we blaming this on the track..? No other racetrack in the USA would postpone the Breeder's Cup because of a little rain. Horses here race on surfaces like that all the time and they don't break down any more frequently than horses on a fast track. Monmouth is not to blame for this, they handled it as any other track would. Accidents happen. Thoroughbreds are more delicate than they used to be.

  • why the fuk did they put breeders cup in a shit place like monmouth when they could have used last years churchhilldowns - the track is to blame as the breeders was a disaster all the days !!!! due to the rain. very sad about george washington been humanly destroyed.....he will be missed

  • Don't blame the track for the weather. It could be that miserable anywhere else, as well, it's not Monmouth's fault we had a fucking monsoon those few days. If Kentucky had gotten the rain we had, Churchill Downs would be the same exact way. The track was sealed, which is the best they can do with a traditional dirt surface.

  • No not the track to blame but the owners and trainer who ran him on it when he was untried on the conditions. Terrible thing is greed.

  • Obviously what happened to George Washington is terrible and it mars the sport. But why the shot at American racing? Breakdowns happen everywhere, Eurodork. Perhaps the connections should have thought twice about running a turf miler in a 10 panel race he had no business being in. Many tracks in America have responded to breakdowns by going to the safer, slower polytrack surface. So stop ripping America, you dweeb.

  • I don't think the track by itself is to blame. And if the track was so bad, why didnt his trainer pull him out of the race? No point blaming the US for a decision made by an Irish trainer (not that the nationality of the trainer has ANYTHING to do with it). Shit happens, seems to happen more often in racing though.

  • Its sad when any horse gives his or her life! It is almost glib to say its racing. But can anyone tell me something...why in America do you race on lasix and Bute? If your horse go abroad to race they race clean! And you win! Cigar won the Dubai World Cup! Why do you race on medication? Its wrong.

  • I would definatly agree with that

  • watche the racing!!!!track was sloppy to begin with , its a pity about george!!go with the angels buddy!!!

  • They raced GW 4 times in the past 6 weeks, what did they expect. That's abuse

  • George Washington had not been raced since the 9th of August, not even close to 4 times in the past 6 weeks.

  • What a shame we lost GW in the Classic. Curlin was amazing as usual. I really hope we get to see him for a full 4 year old year!

  • omg what happened to George Washington?!?!?!?!

  • Nevermind, i heard :[

    omg thats so sad!

  • R.I.P Georgiee

  • Sux about George Washington
