If you understand the priests words, he actually said it with sweetness. He was concerned that the noises were being made during the "mystery" of the union. Although the child's squeals were not disturbing to me, the video doesn't show us how long this went on for. If it's once or twice, no big deal, right? But if it's been going on through the entire ceremony, at some point the parents need to wake up. Others may have wanted to actually hear the ceremony.

You also have to remember that Greeks are different culturally. Perhaps it would have been a better idea if the child was bored or uncomfortable during the service to wait until the reception to bring the child. The focus needs to be on the bride and groom and also on God's holy mystery. I do think this was unprofessional, but we are all human and make mistakes. I hope the couple was not mortified at this! This is actually normal for Greek priests! I've been around a lot of them. I think it would have been courteous for him to just summon a deacon, altar boy, reader, or an usher whisper silently in their ear and had that person discreetly tell the parent to move the child (if it was that much of a problem or distraction) into the nave or a crying room if they have one. Just remember he wanted to keep the focus on the holy mystery and in his mind he was doing the right thing.

I don't care that he's a priest, what he did was unprofessional. Kids are going to scream from time to time especially when they're in a boring church that isn't kid friendly.
